Not using or wearing custom designs is uncreative?

I feel like customs designs are lesser in New Horizons now because the original clothing and paths look so much better than what a design could look like. I've seen some people make good use out of custom path designs, but these days I mostly use them for signs and phone cases.

i have never worn a custom design and I use other peoples designs that they've put out there because obviously they want people to use they're creations. I dont think it takes away from the fact that i've poured countless hours into this game, it only spruces up the areas that I believe need an extra boost in my town!

So i've felt like for a long time if I don't wear custom clothes by me then I feel like my character is unoriginal or if I don't use custom designs for my island then my island isn't original or unique,, so I try to create cute designs but get super stressed when I can't execute things properly. I've felt like this even in NL,,I guess I just need some closure,,

While in the process of venting your stress at your failure to be creative enough. You are able to insult a massive portion of the AC community. ;P Hahaha!

JK (well not entirely)

I am not insulted though I don't feel uncreative or unoriginal. We all find our own paths to creativity and uniqueness. While I admire those who are able to make amazing, beautiful and elaborate custom designs. I am just not that talented. Sure I made my own flag (for kicks) but it is so basic and cringy that I would never use it for cloths.

Though I find my creativity in my character design and the world I create for my character and villagers. Still working on the island design, but the idea of it is fun for me. It won't be epicly amazing as some of these fancy islands you see youtube tours of. It will just be mine. That's enough for me.

I hope your creative juices start flowing and you come up with designs that bring you joy. :D

ovo ; I didn't mean to insult anyone- This was my personal experience it wasn't meant to be taken personally by anyone else. However thank you for the replies

That’s a very narrow definition of creativity. I there’s something to be said for using the in-game clothes to create outfits—I’m more interested in that the designer app, personally. And to me it’s still creative, if a different kind.

This is a lot of pressure you are putting on yourself, I would try to let it go.

There's SO MANY CLOTHES in this game, it feels like a waste honestly to not wear them! There are a lot of great QR code clothing but I think I prefer the in game clothing overall.

Who cares about creativity, do what's most fun to you

I def exclusively wore custom designs in acnl because the clothes in that game were ugly af, but the clothes in acnh are so cute I haven't worn custom designs at all??

Plus I think there's enough variety in the in game paths that you def dont need to use custom paths if you dont want to.

I only use custom designs for my flag and villager signpost. (I am not a good artist myself.)

There's nothing wrong about not using them! So, don't feel bad. The game design caters for both.

I like finding codes for designer clothing lol but as for custom paths/decor I find putting it down properly too stressful! I am just sticking with what’s available in game for now.

Custom clothes look really bad imo. No matter how detailed they are with the new graphics they look terrible. In acnl it was acceptable because everything was so pixel-y anyways. I don’t like using patterns in my town either except my picnic blanket. They look out of place imo. They never look as good as the paths you can buy with nook miles. If that makes me unoriginal then idc. I don’t design my character or my town for other people. It’s for me.

Well, in real life, I don't wear custom-designed clothes that I have made myself. I buy clothes that I like and style them with other clothes that I like I don't have the skills to design clothes irl, and I also don't have the skills to design in-game clothes. I think the same thing that I do irl can be done with the clothes in-game, and I love styling my character with the in-game clothes. I find a lot of enjoyment out of it. You can get creative with anything that you are given, and just because you don't want to use the extra options, doesn't mean you cannot come up with something creative with the options that you are given.

I have lots of custom designs saved, and I pretty much never use them, because I like seeing the texture on the in-game clothes.

Don't feel like you have to abide by some rule in order to be creative.

Using custom designs or not is simply a design choice. It's got nothing to do with creativity or skill level.

It's really not something to worry about or get frustrated over. Your character/island should be what makes you happy; it doesn't matter what other people think.

I don't use custom designs. I just feel they look out of place. It's a personal preference.

If anything, it could be considered more creative to only use the clothes, paths, and furniture provided to you in the game rather than looking to create your own version of everything.

I think it's the way that you design your island and your villager that makes them unique, not the patterns that you use.

I’m not very artistic so all my custom patterns turn out whack. I don’t care too much anymore. I play the game the way I want and don’t worry too much what other people think.

I haven’t used or made any custom designs yet—it’s something that I’ve just not chosen to focus on at this point. I think I might eventually, but there’s so much else to do and no real need for it.

Also, there’s no need to be creative in every aspect of the game. Is a painter not creative if they can’t play the violin? Is a writer not creative if they don’t sculpt? We can choose how to express our creativity. That’s what makes us and our Islands unique imo.

This is actually the first time I've heard that not utilizing custom designs makes you uncreative, that's such a strange observation. Anyone should be able to choose what they want to wear/decorate with. If you prefer the items that are readily available, that is fine, the same way if you want to use custom designs, you are free to.

Sometimes I feel like people are too concerned about what others think regarding how they play. Play the game how you want, it should be FOR YOUR enjoyment anyway. :)
