It's really not NoE renaming everything, it's NoA who changes everything;

Japan/Europe: Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City
America: Animal Crossing: City Folk

Europe: Thrill Tower (very similar to Japan)

I hate ScareScraper - it just seems un original. It's just a play on words for Sky Scraper (which I hate when Nintendo does plays on words) Thrill Tower is so much better

I just do not know why nintendo changes my text in my Style Savvy Trendsetters game to make the people sound british. Heckle, the brands have even been renamed!

And i thought Helion and Le Spark was a seperate brand...

I think it has more to do with copyrighting and other legal things. It's not just Nintendo that changes names across the pond, many food brands do the same (Walkers/Lays and Galaxy/Dove). I think it also saves the company money somehow.

I'm guessing Sony and Microsoft also do this for some games.

But it's not Europe who changed it; it was the US

and in parts of Europe a 'city folk' is another word for a gang, so Europe probably just stuck with the Japanese name

Well I do believe my assumption was incorrect. Danke for the correction. I assumed as we tend to get things after everyone else that it changed

If you read the EU description of Luigi's Mansion 2 on the Nintendo European eShop, It never mentions the words "DARK MOON".

Why should everything over here be American? Whats wrong with the British and Europeans having things worded in a way that makes more sense to them and Americans have it your way? Surely it makes no difference whatsoever to your life if i call it Luigis Mansion 2 when you say Dark Moon. We both know what the other is talking about. We don't have Scarescraper because we don't have skyscrapers. that makes perfect sense to me to market it at different cultures. It shows they've thought about the differences between us. And crikey is not an English phrase.

I find it hard to believe people really care about this stuff, but as has already been pointed out Europe actually stays more faithful to the original Japanese titles.

Another point made by Junglefruit is occasionally legal reasons. For example Capsule Monsters became Pocket Monsters because of those troubles, then Pocket Monsters only became 'Pok?mon' overseas because of copyright problems with the brand Monster in My Pocket.
