No turkey day?

This really depresses me haha I can't really play the day of... or the week after. I wanted to enjoy this event a few days before when I had time but was still in the Turkey day mood.

It’s a one day event, it’s not exactly going to give you days of content so I don’t see where it leaves you with nothing to do if you time travel to do the event today or wait a week later.

Exactly.
It would just help me to decorate my island for the holidays and enjoy the decorations for longer, which, is a normal thing to do, and a normal thing to want.

It just doesn't make sense to me the way they are releasing holiday items right now. They could have had our villagers give us DIYS of some of the items before the event at least, but this time we get nothing. The new harvest set looked adorable too. There's no way I'm even going to put the item set up anymore because it's pointless to put it up for one day.

Yes, I think the way they did Halloween event was best. It allowed us to enjoy some of the new items while still having something to look forward to on the day itself.

I'm guessing it'll be playable on the 26th, so if you've updated on TT to it, I'm guessing you'll get it. I haven't updated yet or I'd check. I don't think Turkey Day is as big of a day as Halloween or even Toy Day, so I don't think it gets a full month. I mean... I feel like that's how it works in real life at least, lol.

IIRC, the unlock for Bunny Day happened a day or two before the event. I imagine they'll do the same this time too. Probably to make sure most people have time to download the update beforehand.

I'm rather okay that they time locked it ! I hardly time travel unless it's by a day to get an item in the game so by having it time locked is fine. Besides why burn through like 2 months of content in an hour ? It's rather strange ! If there's already nothing to do before then by time traveling and playing the events now you'll really be left with nothing but, to each their own !

For a lot of people it's not about that. It's not about speedrunning the content out of boredom and getting burnt out. Besides, that rarely happens. The game is massive and there's always something to do if you're creative. It's more about having items to decorate for the holidays before the actual holidays (which a lot of people can't even play on). It makes the game more enjoyable. I find it rather strange to only get holiday furniture on the day of the holiday.

Ah ! That's a different perspective ! I didn't even think about the furniture aspect. That is rather strange..

That's really strange actually. I don't TT on NH, but locking the event time wise is a little annoying in the long run if I ever do start TTing on a new island. I don't know about other people, but I'm going to be celebrating with family that I haven't seen in along while, and I won't have time to participate in NH.

Hopefully turkey day will start early in the day, since more people would be able to play!

I didn’t even think about the fact that we won’t be able to decorate until the day of. That doesn’t make any sense... so, what, we’re gonna have our Thanksgiving decorations up for a day? Weird. I purposely went through & purchased all the festive DIYs/materials so that I’d be able to decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving...

I don't mind if they time lock events, but if they make it so we can only get the holiday furniture on the day of the event like they seem to be doing now, that's extremely stupid. So we're supposed to play on the event day, decorate for ONE DAY and then take it down?
Wtf? This was such a stupid decision.

No one's forcing you to take it down right away. My island still has halloween items on it. I get not being able to decorate early, but since most holidays are locked into having their own month, there is nothing wrong with having decorations up for at least the entire rest of the month as well. Halloween is different because it's at the end of the year, but when there's still at least a week or two of a month remaining after the big holiday for that month, I think that can still be used to players' advantage.

Perhaps Nintendo is date-locking content to cut down on scalpers selling items through eBay and other vendors. I can't fathom any other reason but that.

They recently did update their terms of services related to this after the update launched.

I believe they specifically stated that it's against their terms of service. That obviously stopped very few from doing it, so it forced Nintendo's hand to be a bit more controlling.

I'm unaffected as I don't TT, but I imagine it can be frustrating for those honest TT'ers that have had an experience potentially changed because of some opportunistic scalpers.

Very good point, I didn't even think of people TTing to events to get things to sell for real money!

I'm kind of OK with not being able to time travel straight to the event. It gives me something to look forward too. I also personally would rather wait anyways, so that I'm not burnt out immediately from time travelling and doing everything at once.

I didn't time travel straight to Halloween like everyone else seemed too. I like getting excited for the event. Idk, that's my opinion. :)

Yesterday I decided to TT the day before Turkey Day. All my villagers were talking about it and Isabelle mentioned that it would be "tomorrow". However, today there was...Redd. A normal day. No mention of Franklin or Turkey Day by anyone. So it looks like events will be date-locked and mini updates will be released before the actual event. Like what others have said, I don't TT to get all the items, just for furniture to decorate to get into the "holiday spirit". Oh well

I think the updates are released some days before the events actually happen not to provide people with new content right now, but to make sure most people will have been able to notice and download the update data before the event itself.

I do understand them wanting to prevent players from going in and getting all the new things early (and instead spreading the content out over two months in an attempt to keep people busy until their next update). It also ensures that the majority of the players will reach this content at the same time.

For those that don't have time to play on the event day itself, they won't lock the content again when the day is over. You can always do it later. Just not earlier.

I agree that that the way event/seasonal furniture is handled is a little lame though. There's no point in getting the decorations this late, and I really hope that the toy day stuff isn't exclusive to the actual event day and that we'll be able to decorate in advance while the mood is still present. Also, I'd rather have seen more broadly usable items that are useful even after the events are over for pretty much all of the events... What are we even supposed to do with bunny day / halloween stuff anymore 🤔
