No talking to villagers

In older versions of the game (specifically WW, I can't remember if it was the same in CF), you could talk to a villager in another town and try to convince them to move even if they weren't in boxes. After a few visits they would say something like "oh wow, [your town] sounds so cool!" and you had the option to say to them "move in!" or something like that.

I think that's probably where it comes from.

I think it's funny when villagers chat about visitors! It's usually some silly rumor. That being said, my villagers have never met anyone else because I usually just trade with other people. My sis hasn't even talked with them! xD I think I'd have to have traded with them (and had a good experience) to know that they won't hit my villager in the head with a net or something xD

Mostly it's because once they talk to that villager, they will often talk about that person a couple of times. Personally, I do it exactly for that reason. It might sound a little selfish, but I find it quite annoying when my villagers are talking about the same person non-stop.

I just find it extremely annoying when my villagers repeatedly talk about someone who visited. It would be fine if they were programmed to only mention the person they talked to once, but no. They have to repeat it over and over. Back when I was trying to move out my last unwanted villager in Noveon, I was chatting with Fuchsia 10-15 times in a row each day I TTed to get a rumor out of her about who was thinking of moving out, and one time she mentioned the person who visited 4 times out of 15! I think over the course of trying to move out that last unwanted villager, she mentioned the visitor she spoke to about 3 dozen times or more. That's when I decided I was never letting anyone talk to my villagers again, especially the ones I'm best friends with.

I did let someone talk to Genji once because they asked, and I was fine with it. He's not my go-to villager in Luneta, so it was ok in that instance. But most of the time, I just don't allow it.

I think once I have all the villagers I want, I'd be fine with my friends/regular visitors talking to them. It'd make sense for them to talk about folks who are in town a lot!

I dont mind if someone talks to my villagers. But, like 2 years later, there are some villagers that still talk about a vistor i had a long tine ago. I am guessing that sort of thing bothers some people. I like it! Reminds me of good trades, but i guess not everyone likes it.

^^ This is why I don't like it. I won't forbid it because it's not actually too big of a deal. But I had my best friend from a while ago come into my town quite a bit and talk to my villagers. We're not really friends anymore so it bums me out when my villagers talk about meeting her and talking to her. :/ If random people do it though when they visit my town, I don't particularly care as much.

Ah what no way~ I usually let people exploring my town I must hope that no one is greedy enough to steal my stuff though, I'm sure they know better than that! ahhaah. but yeah I dunno why some forbid others to not talk to their villagers? maybe it's booked for someone who boght the villager to go pick them up? yeahh ohhhs

I don't really like people talking to my villagers because they talk about the visitor a LOT. In my old town, they talked about visitors a lot, and it got super annoying fast.

Because the villahers will end up mentioning again and again "I saw xxx the other day and I think he is a xxx". So people doesn't like that.

not much people allow you to talk to their villagers because their villagers will say that they met this person from _____. It limits dialogue and it's annoying

ahh, i see, no wonder people forbid visitor talking to the villager so much.

Yeah, the not-talking-to-villagers rule is set in stone at the Reddit AC communities. I got told by a few people that the traders on there don't like their villagers being tampered with, but I don't see the big deal; it's nice to look back at old trades.

Having visitors tamper with the bulletin board, on the other hand...

what does this mean? i don't get it
