so yknow the 3rd room (farthest back) in the museum is all about megafauna and how theyre the ancestors of the villagers we have? its like a phylum tree i think? anyways, i was and checking out all my megafauna fossils since my collection is almost complete when i noticed sheep arent in the line up??
am i stupid or are sheep genuinely not there (im probably just dumb)? is this a mistake or is there a paleontologic reason sheep arent present

Wolves also aren't there apparently, guess they just had too many species to include them all?
yeah thats rlly weird too! especially bc shouldnt it be wolves instead of dogs on the lineup?? bc dogs evolved from wolves 🤔
i also noticed bulls arent there but i assume that its bc cows are there and its just a different sex of the same species

Sheep are very closely related to goats, certain species can even breed to make sheep-goat hybrids.

Wolves and dogs are closely related, their connection would be too small to chart in the museum evolutionary tree. Even more closely related than sheep and goats.

I believe Octopi also aren’t there. Not too sure what they evolved from since I came from an extremely conservative Christian educational background.

Octopuses, being the only invertebrate animal villager we have, are very far away in the evolutionary tree, which explains why they aren't displayed. Octopuses and all cephalapods are descendent from the Knightoconus.
*note: At the start of the fossil museum are several non-extinct animal displays, there is a squid, a cephalapods much like the octopus, on the left.

@Bioness - thanks for the insight! i wasnt aware of just how close goats and sheep were related. still seems weird to me that theyd chose to display the dog in the line up instead of a wolf but oh well

Actually I just checked the museum. Goats aren't there either. Were they there Goats and Sheep would be with the Deer and Cow. Frogs are also not displayed (amphibians).

Also fun fact while you're here, the Eagles are representing Birds, Ducks, and Ostriches and their tree line goes directly to the dinosaurs in the museum. That is because dinosaurs are technically not extinct, the remaining dinosaurs are all Avians/Birds (this is most obvious with the Archaeopteryx fossil). This is why the Jurassic Park series is not well liked by paleontologist, because most of the dinosaurs had feathers or feather-like coats and many were much smaller than displayed in the films.

There's a squid in the first room of the fossil section, near the top on the left side. So there's your octopi, I guess.

Also the frog would be in the first or second section since evidence suggests that frogs come anywhere between the Triassic era or earlier

@DinoTown - i was going to suggest earlier that since octopi evolved from mollusks (?) that there would probably be some in the first room of the museum. also about the frogs, thats pretty cool. since frogs are pretty...soft and live in water im assuming theres probably not many fossils of them right? from what i learned in primary school, aquatic animals usually werent well preserved? i could be wrong, its been years.

@Bioness - god i love birds so much. i love the attention given to them in the museum - its kinda of funny that such a cutesy game like this placed such an emphasis on real world paleontology. i imagine a kid with no previous knowledge could actually learn from this game. thats how i felt as a child playing AC learning about all the different bugs and fish :)

some scientists believe the entire cephalapods species might be an alien, since their DNA is so unique and not like any other creature found to date. not in the face hugging alien way, but introduced via panspermia. the fossil record doesn't show much, just like with sharks though because they don't have bones to fossilize like most species we have found. they're extremely smart, i figure having 9 brains help lol.

if you really want to mess with what should be shown, felines, canines, and usridae all have a common ancestor.
