What frustrates me most about Nintendo is their decision making and pure lack of initiative when it comes to marketing their games. I mean, take the Wii U and the New 3DS (emphasis on the bold because of the stupidly confusing names.) It seems although Nintendo have been taking in lots of feedback from their consumers recently (prime examples of this being the much-wanted remakes of Majora's mask and Poke Gen 3) that they still are not listening to what we, the consumers, want. What's been getting on my nerves recently is the fact that some DS titles are so well-loved and treasures by their fans that they're almost impossible to obtain for a reasonable price. It's been almost 2 years since I've wanted to play Heart Gold, and alas I have failed in securing myself a copy. Why? Because of this:
yaYoI9f.png

The game came out in 2010 and it's worth even more $ than it was originally released for... (almost $90 when translated into dollars.) Really? That's the price some of us are forced to pay for a packaged USED version of Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver? I can only begin to imagine how many DS games are being over-priced due to their demand/popularity.

Now that the horrifying price of a single pokemon DS game has been revealed, it finally brings me to the point I'm trying to make about Nintendo. They don't cash in on what's sitting right underneath their noses. Just imagine... +*+Downloadable DS titles *+*

I feel as though I don't even need to explain why downloadable DS titles would be a good thing. I a lot of people think that having downloadable DS titles wouldn't work with the 3DS, since the DS titles wouldn't be compatible with the SD card. There' also the argument that there isn't really a demand for DS titles, which is technically true, but say if they were to rerelease DS titles on the e-shop then they'd have an unlimited number of stock, partnered by almost 0 manufacturing costs.

What do you guy think? I just want to play heart gold and not be left with a hole in my wallet.

Sorry if there's already a thread like this.

Honestly this whining about WiiU and New 3DS needs to stop.

Is everyone really that ****ing stupid? Sony only does +1 each time and Xbox changes the suffix each time, but that's apparently easy enough to remember? OMG NINTENDO KEPT THE NAME TWICE IN A ROW I DONT GET IT ANYMORE!?!?!? There was a time we had SUPER Nintendo and no one threw such a fit the way they do now. Why is this the first time everyone is so up in arms about it that it needs to be brought up so much wow. It's a really strange double standard on names that gives Ninty the poop end of the stick for apparently no reason.
Fine fine you'd rather not have it be called WiiU or New 3DS but have a new name, that's a reasonable argument but most of the people who bring it up are those who are getting confused over nothing. If your stupid mother went in the store and brought you home a Wii for Xmas holiday instead of a WiiU then that's not Nintendo's fault that you morons keep just calling it a Wii or don't do your research, which is incredibly easy.
Nintendo.com then click WiiU. Case solved.
I also have a slight hunch that the anti Nintendo wave we're in right now is reason why people are like LOL Y IS CALLED WII U!?!? if it was some strong powerhouse system with a billion games and sold 1000 million units no one would even have brought it up I bet.

As for overpriced DS & Wii games that are 10 years old, yeah that needs to stop, but will it? No. I'm not sure who to blame on that matter, Nintendo partially I guess but then the demand is high anyway. NES, SNES and N64 carts that are 20-30 years old that feature the big names still will go for $30-50 at any used store, so what can you do? Nintendo can't control their prices, so it's kind of a catch 22.

It actually costs to keep games in the eShop. However, the fact that these games are so expensive only means that they're wanted by consumers out there so I have to agree wholeheartedly with wanting them to be sold digitally.

Also they've mentioned DS games for the WiiU coming. Obviously Game Freak said No to virtual consoling any retro pokemon releases, but it at least may shed light on other things. There's 1 DS game out for the EU & JP on WiiU, no word on when more will come.

In regards to what already exists for downloads,
The original carts can be $30+ but virtual console is $5-10. So in a sense they've already reduced prices for everyone.

Wow, that pokemon HeartGold is seriously overpriced! 0_o I bought Pokemon SoulSilver in 2012 for ?20,- (about ?14,50).

Edit: forgot to mention that wasn't even a used copy. It was brand new. Must've been lucky.

I mean..

3DSi ?
3DS advance ?
3DSC ?

as for the wii u, to the normal person the Wii U probably sounds like an accessory to the Wii. They should have given it a totally original name to avoid confusion

(There wasn't a gamecube U or a N64 U)

You could've just stopped there. Xbox One is one of the most ******** names for a console I've ever heard, especially since some people already referred to the original Xbox as "the Xbox 1".
I get that they had to come up with a dumb name to call it, but why does it have to be a number, and if it has to be a number, why isn't it just 3?

As for the remake of Majora's Mask, Aonuma already said that work on that started immediately after the release of Ocarina of Time 3D. I don't think fan input was a factor.
As for the Pokemon remakes, they were to be expected. Fan feedback might have played a part in it, but I doubt that was 100% what led them to make that decision.

It can be argued that DS games aren't being brought to the eShop due to the fact that you can still play DS games on the 3DS. But there's also the fact that Wii games are being released for Wii U. Sure, you don't have to go into a separate Wii menu, and you can actually play some of them using the Gamepad rather than the Wiimote, but is that worth it?

If you really want to get mad about something though, look no further than the Virtual Console. The gaggleheads at Nintendo will release GBA games on the Wii U, but for some reason it's too hard to release on the 3DS? 10 GBA games have been available on the 3DS for select people for almost 3 and a half years, so what's stopping them from releasing other GBA titles for a wider audience?

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that interview/direct. I guess an alternative example would be the mewtwo dlc.

That's completely true. Why bring DS titles to the e-shop when they are already accessible? Because there are hundreds of DS titles which are no longer in manufacturing, thus making them even less accessible. The same thing could be said for 3DS titles on the e-shop. Why release them on there when they're accessible through their tangible copies? It's simply to make games more accessible and to make more money.

I understand how people are frustrated about the entire 3ds-gba thing,
but not me, as I'm one of those people that have the 10 GBA games. The only other gba games I would be interested in having on my 3DS would be the pokemon ones and Harvest moon.

Don't get me started on the ambassador program though. The entire point of it was to reward people that had bought a 3DS full price prior to the price being significantly slashed. You'd have thought that they may have offered the new ambassador 3DS to ALL of the current ambassador users, but no. Only a handful of random (as far as we know) users received the opportunity to get one.

Kinda glad though, because if I had got an ambassador 3DS then I wouldn't have ended up importing my AU new 3ds xl.

But there was a Super NES. :^)

and to this day people are still confusing it with the ordinary NES and the Super NES because I didn't grow up with a nes/snes and i legit thought they were the same thing until only recently

Also. In terms of it being confusing. I don't find the name Wii U confusing. But New 3DS is definitely a confusing name! I found out about the New 3DS through a friend. She was like "Hey, have you heard of the New 3DS?" and I automatically thought she was referring to a New Limited Edition or something lol

So basically you proved my point. You make it seem like people are choosing not to figure it out because they choose to be stupid about it. That's why you find out what you're buying before you blindly make a purchase. Buying it for a kid or not, that's not Nintendo's fault that people are too stupid to want to figure it out what's clear as day.
You go into a store and say I WANT AN XBOX. Okay which one? 360 or One? I want Playstation. Okay which one? 3 or 4? I want a PSP. Okay Portable or Vita? Same thing with Nintendo. I WANT 3DS. New or regular? And dumbass parent is gonna ask what the difference is if the kid didn't specify. And knowing kids they probably aren't going to just ask for a "3ds" or a "wii" and except to get back exactly what they asked for.

The game and console boxes are clearly different between the Wii and WiiU, even more so between Wii Mini & U at this point.

The only people who ever bring up the "confusion" between Nintendo products are those who already know the difference. No one ever asks if a WiiU can play Wii games, but people still can't grasp that a PS4 & XB1 aren't backwards compatible, among a bunch of other things but that's apparently not worth talking about as much as "lol wat is wii u"

Need we mention iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, 6, and 6+ are all for sale at the same time right now as well, people seem to be able to keep that straight.

and to this day people are still confusing it with the ordinary NES and the Super NES because I didn't grow up with a nes/snes and i legit thought they were the same thing until only recently

Who the hell is confusing it with the original 25-35 years later? Only you.
Just because you were confused doesn't mean the masses were. That's pretty ignorant. The SNES at least had the different controller set, console didn't look much the same at all either. The physical difference between the NES & SNES are greater than the Wii & WiiU.

I didn't have a NES or SNES either when I was a kid but you'd have to be a trolling buffoon not to notice.

Pretty much, it took up until recently to adjust to saying Original Xbox if I have to compared that one versus XB1. Sometimes I can get away with just saying Xbox in ref to the first one but people def get confused so you gotta bust out with "XB1" or OG Xbox or some other crap.

They also didn't make systems that were basically just like the GameCube and the 64. If they had come out with a different version of the GameCube, why give it a whole new name?

The Wii U is basically a better version of the Wii, not some brand new console we've never experienced before. Giving it a whole new name could have worked, but I legit don't see the problem with Wii U. And same for New 3DS.

Pretty sure that's going to be just you. No one got the Gameboy mixed up with the Gameboy Advance, no one got the PSP mixed up with the Vita either. The DS to DSi thing didn't confuse anyone either, they made that one really clear but they didn't even bother utilizing it. They market them clearly differently and the only time people don't get what they want is when they don't know what they're buying because they just call it by it's shorthand name, a Wii or a DS so they screw it up for themselves blame it on the company that made it. Nintendo isn't the only company that suffers from it's consumers being too stupid to look at simple differences between 2 products.
OP is perpetuating something that's old by now. We know they made blunders making the WiiU be the successor and that there was that Wii gamepad accessory, but it only worked with like 10 games that nobody even bought and were poorly rated.

Yet this fool can't straighten out a NES or SNES and the public supposedly cant figure out a Wii from a WiiU but they know the difference between 6 phones that all look the same.

Only the design of the console casing is similar. If you are taking that stance with the Wii and Wii U, then look at technical specifications between consoles and available inputs, because you might as well argue that the Wii is just a better version of the GameCube. The specs roughly get doubled in between consoles, and the Wii has GameCube support (including controller ports), just like how the Wii U has Wii support (including controller ports in the form of the Sensor Bar).

Yes, we definitely need to see DS games on the 3DS eShop. It's an obvious win. Just like Gamecube games on Wii U. Looks like we're gonna have to wait a while though since they're still struggling to even get GBA games up on the 3DS eShop for all, it's been 3 years since they released for Ambassadors in a beta state and no sign of them coming officially in a feature complete state to the eShop.

That said: We can expect DS games on the Wii U eShop soon enough, they already released Brain Age as a test in Europe and Japan half a year ago, so the technology is there and ready for it.

That's terrible about Heart Gold! It's an amazing game but definitely not worth that much! I was lucky to get the very last copy of Soul Silver (they didn't even have one copy of Heart Gold left) at my local Walmart in I think 2011 or 2012 as the game was a year or two old at the time.

But yes more virtual console for newer but still old systems I support all the way. Let's bring out some GameCube, Original Wii, and DS games! I haven't missed out on Pokemon games thankfully, but I'd really love to play games like the original Luigi's Mansion on GC, Harvest Moon games from various consoles etc. as I either do not own said systems or the games I'm looking for are hard to find or expensive.

Pokemon games rarely depreciate in value, besides the spinoffs. That's just the way it is.
You don't have to pay ridiculous prices. Get it from Craigslist, Ebay, local game shop, etc. Or use an emulator.
