to say it's easier because you don't have to buy it all at one time.. is kinda.. wat. you still have to buy it in the long run.. i GUESS it could give you more time if you're an impulse consumer and want your 3ds right now, but i would rather get a console + a game (or two) to keep me busy. i think pilotwings is good and will keep anyone who likes it at bay.. but i really think they should have held off the release until a couple more additions were brought forward. they'll come out eventually, nbd, but i just think it's a bit half-baked this way. meh.
if they said that a lite version would be made in a year, no one who knew that and cared would buy the initial launch product.
nintendo may in fact be telling the truth.. but i don't believe it, right now.
Well, yeah, you're still paying the same amount, but it will be less money at one time. There are many reasons why not buying it all at once can be a better option, mostly financial reasons, but the biggest reason, for me at least, is the fact that you'll get to experience the system early. Now, I realize I'm just repeating myself at this stage, but, c'mon. Why would you not buy the system at launch, even if it means you probably won't be buying any games with it? You still have all the built in features of the system to mess around with, not to mention the ability to play all your existing DS games, and you get to experience the glasses-free 3D. Sure, you may not be playing the kind of content that you're waiting for, but at least you have a small bit of it while you wait.
Obviously, I'm not trying to convince you to buy it or anything, since it seems you've decided to purchase it eventually anyway, so don't think I'm just playing fanboy here. I'm just wondering why you would
wait to buy it. Now, if there was going to be a price cut soon, or if you didn't have enough money at the time, or if your birthday or a holiday was coming up soon, then I would understand your reasoning. But, assuming none of that is the case with you, I don't see the logic in waiting. If you want the system, and you have the money to get it, why not snatch it up as soon as you can? It just doesn't make sense to me. Just the fact that people would hold off on buying a 3DS, or anything new and exciting for that matter, intrigues me.
Why?
And, yes, of course Nintendo could be holding off on something, but they're always very honest when it comes to details about future systems. If they're developing something that they don't want to reveal information about yet, then they'll simply say that they can't talk about it. But when they openly admit to something like this, they're being honest. I know we can't prove that they're absolutely telling the truth, but why would they lie? Like I said, if they had something that they didn't want to reveal yet, they just wouldn't comment on it, like always. Plus, this info comes from an Iwata Asks interview, which focuses on revealing interesting facts about the development of Nintendo games and systems. I highly doubt that Nintendo would lie about something like this in that context. Besides, it just makes sense. Just look at the 3DS. They can't make it much smaller or compact than it already is!
All of those I'm sure are decent games, but hardly mind blowing games that you would expect at launch.
How many consoles have had a mind-blowing launch lineup? Not very many. The "mind-blowing" games come later on, after developers have figured out how to use the system to its full potential, and after the games have had the development time that they need. That's why we're getting so many ports near launch. Instead of taking years to create a brand new game, developers can cut the development time exponentially by just remastering an older game. That way the developers can still push out quality titles in time for a new system's launch.
