I'm not gonna lie, the main reason why I thought of this thread is due to the prices of the Switch 2/Games vs the economy that effects many people of Nintendo's audience. And then preorder delays for some nations being a thing now that can be an obstacle for some people.

Either way, it got me thinking, while skipping, waiting, or saving up.. are there any games you have on a backlog from the Switch 1 or 3ds consoles?
Or maybe any games you are interested in replaying in the mean time?

Oh god, where do I even begin...
I still have yet even to beat ToTK, which is insane because I got it on day one! I plan on beating that before ever getting the Switch 2. I also recently got Forgotten Land and Echoes of Wisdom - both great games that I need to beat. I also wanna 100% Mario Kart 8 Delixe before moving on to World. There are plenty more (like Link's Awakening and Mario Wonder), but I don't plan to prioritize or worry too much about them.

Oh god, where do I even begin...
I know that feeling :ROFLMAO: I also have yet to finish Echoes of Wisdom. Although I did beat TotK. What else, finishing the pokedex in pretty much every switch pokemon game I play, but I'm getting there, and pretty sure I finished the main stories. The 'side order' mode in Splatoon 3. I know there is more I'm not thinking of right away. And for 3DS, several I haven't fully finished, but the main one I keep going back to lately is Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon which seems to have a surprising amount of content.

oh boy I have... a lot

for the 3DS:
-I'm far from completing Happy Home Designer, so there's always that when the mood strikes me!
-I'm currently playing Style Savvy: Trendsetters!
-I've finished the main story + DLC, but I still want to 100% Fantasy Life at some point
-Pokémon Ultra Sun is the last 3DS Pokémon game I need to complete! I might also get Alpha Sapphire at some point since I enjoyed Omega Ruby, and maybe also Pokémon Moon if I really like Ultra Sun!
-need to continue my playthrough of Story of Seasons!! I really like Klaus and am going to romance him (*´꒳`*) none of the other bachelors really interest me, but I'll need to check out the girls' flower events on Youtube at some point to see if I want another copy! yes there is another save file. but I'm going to use it for the alternate confession scenes LOL
-have not even started Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns yet

for the Switch:
-I haven't quiiiiite finished Lostglade in ACNH yet, but I'm close! still need to finish the HHP stuff and decorate my villagers' houses
-also I have plans for a second island on my Switch Lite!! they are just... plans right now, but I'll get to that after my main island is done
-want to 100% Pokémon Legends: Arceus
-need to finish Pokémon Shield and Let's Go, Eevee!
the latter of which I'll probably just restart, it's been a loooong time now
-I also have Pokémon Shining Pearl and Scarlet that I haven't started yet
-also Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX! I only played Blue Rescue Team
relatively recently, so I've wanted to give myself a while before playing DX
-Currently playing Dragon Quest Builders 2! I think I'm pretty early on in the story still too
-Also have Dragon Quest: Treasures and Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince to play through as well, but I'd like to finish playing the mobile version of DQIV first + maybe also replay VI before Treasures
-I got the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy when it was on sale a while back! been meaning to try the series for a while
-also Little Goody Two Shoes but I'm lowkey scared to play it without an in-depth walkthrough LOL
-I'm close to finishing my current route in Jack Jeanne that I've just left myself hanging on for months now, but I've still got four more to go after that, and I'd really like to get all the trophies too ;w;
-I have both Radiant Tale and Radiant Tale: Fanfare to play too!
-I haven't checked out the 1.6 Stardew Valley update yet and there's still so so so much I want to do in that game!
-will probably start Rune Factory 4 Special over at this point, and my main goal is to get through the third arc next time, but I'd like to complete it fully someday too!
-still have my two ongoing RF5 playthroughs too and I'd also like to 100% it/see everyone's romances/etc. ;v;
-aaaand I pre-ordered Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma

...and there's other games for the 3DS/Switch that I might like to get after I finish more of the games I already have.

so yeah I'm. not really in a rush for the Switch 2 LOL

So many.
So, so many.

I recall saying some months ago that I wanted to get through my backlog before buying a Switch 2 (or at least any new games that come out for it), and I've barely made a dent in it since then. For now, whenever I have time, I've been starting off with my DS games, because that's genuinely how far back it goes.
I've restarted PMD: Explorers of Sky so I can finally finish it, and also did the same with Dragon Quest IX, though I've been dipping in and out of that one. They're both neat games, so I've been having fun chipping away at them!

I currently have 25 games across Nintendo consoles/handhelds on my backlog! Breaking it down a bit further:

Switch: (18)
Ace Attorney Investigations Collection
Bayonetta 3
Final Fantasy VII
Fire Emblem Engage
Hades

Harvest Moon 64
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
Xenoblade Chronicles X

3DS: (3)

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice

There will always be plenty of games on Nintendo's systems that I'll want to replay as well (like the entire Legend of Zelda series, the entire Metroid series, etc.). That said, this isn't even the longest my backlog has ever been, so it won't deter me from picking up the Switch 2 on release day. 😅

I have way too many games. I've been slowly chipping away at some of them instead of getting new games. I finished Mario and Luigi Brothership not too long ago and I'm currently working on Pokemon Arceus. I kind of put it on hold for probably a year or more?

I also have Fire Emblem 3 Houses and I got it for Christmas one year and I have yet to play or even break the plastic. 🫣 Life hit me hard during that time and then when things calmed down I just never got around to it.

I have quite the extensive backlog.
I was like that's not so bad when I opened the Wii tab and then when I opened the others...oh no close the gates!

I know right?? Gaming is such an expensive hobby. And there's never gonna be enough time to go through all of those games.

Not only that, but some games can be such a grindy slog with their creative decisions. No one finds backtracking or doing the same thing multiple times engaging or fun. It's just mind-numbing to get past so you can continue the story or to the fun stuff. And sometimes it's hard to get motivated to do that and I drop a game when it's at its worst parts.

Exactly. I don't mind a grind myself, but not everything has to be a grind.

That said, you should really give Three Houses a try.

Xenoblade is a good game and series! But it's such a huge time sink investment. I enjoyed the story for the most part and I found Xenoblade 2 to be the better game as the cast is very dynamic compared to 1 where some of the characters felt a bit too wooden. In hindsight I can look back and appreciate the game, but it's a very convoluted and flawed game with a pretty bad battle system.

I had to take breaks from them as well and play here or there. Have you made any progress and how are you feeling about the game?

I mean I do have it. I got it for Christmas one year and just never opened 😅 I do plan on it, I was just slowly playing and finishing other games. I'm currently finishing up Arceus that I had put down for about a year or more. Going back to it now, I realize it has a bit of a balancing issue, but I do like the exploration and survival aspect they attempted for Pokemon.
