I think this would be appropriate to show off other features they've added over the span of the 9 months. But if they want to just wait for us to surprise ourselves, that would be cool too. :p

They did two for New Leaf, the one pre-release in 2012 and one in 2016 for the Welcome Amiibo update. Theres no way its out of the question. They're likely to drop news here and there whether its in a Nintendo Direct or not, and then closer to release probably have its own Direct.

Probably in like January or February 2020 closer to release we can expect to see an animal crossing direct.

There will probably be 1 more Nintendo direct this year and maybe another pokemon one. And then another direct in the beginning of 2020.

They could mention animal crossing in those but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I wish that they had daily updates like Smash had (I'd even be satisfied with a new bug or fish every day) but we'll definitely have at least 1 Direct. I'm assuming February since they seem to be doing them much closer to release dates now.

The way I see it...

July: Direct for Hero for Smash.

August/September: Another Direct. But being we were off the heels off of E3, don't expect much of AC here.

October/November: Banjo Direct for Smash.

December: General Direct for stuff coming in the new year. We can expect more Animal Crossing then.

AC Direct?: Possibly around February of next year?

The ACNL direct came out a month before the Japan release of the game, so I think it's reasonable to think we'll get one in February.

We might get one in September at the earliest, but I'd expect a Direct in November or December based solely on AC.

General Direct in January. Animal Crossing Direct in late February or early March.

Guessing February for the Animal Crossing Direct. It seems logical to have it about 1 month before releasing.

The only reason I say November or December as a possibility is because of the fact that the game was delayed. While February is the most likely, they might due one beforehand to help ease the wait. After all, Pokemon is 5 months away, yet it still got a 15-minutes Direct. They're completely different, but just saying it shows that they won't necessarily wait until 1 month before.

I think they will do one toward the end of the year, hopefully to announce that there's a themed switch console coming out with the game, that way there's enough time to pre-order it.

It would be nice if they did one around Fall.

Either way, I just hope we get a steady stream of news throughout these 9 months. I'm so curious to learn more about the game!

It's possible that they maybe show a little bit of new gameplay in the next Nintendo Direct and make a
15~ minutes long AC Direct one or two months before release.

Daily updates would ruin the hype for me eventually!

I know right?! The treehouse segment and gameplay trailer just wasn't enough.

You might want to throw in a few Pokemon reveals throughout there.

While they definitely won't come anytime soon, they did actually have daily tweet updates for the month or so prior to New Leaf's release in Japan back in the day! I kind of expect the same thing to happen this time around once we get to the new year.

It probably will get a Nintendo Direct in early February or something. Nearly every major Nintendo title gets one and Animal Crossing is definitely a big title.

I'm pretty sure we will get an AC direct. However, I have no clue as to when it would take place. Personally I'd prefer towards the end of this year to keep us updated on how the game is progressing but early 2020 seems just as plausible.

there'll be one, i just have 0 idea when like nilesse said. around holiday season seems likely though!

I think it would be cool to get a direct around the time the game was originally planned to be released, which I feel would be around November.
