Nintendo confirms selling Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers for real money is against terms of service

Except the fact that we kinda figured that out ages ago.

But nice that they combated this.

This goes for amiibo cards too right?

I seriously hope Nintendo takes action against this. But I'm also unsure of how they'd go about doing so. People selling NMT and ingame furniture are also a nuisance

Yeah, I think Amiibos are fine even though they're hecking expensive lol

they just want all the profit 😂

in all seriousness though, it makes total sense. But the heavy-rng nature of new horizons, combined with the rampant hacking doesn't make the situation great.

Okay good, glad to see amiibo cards aren't affected.

Though of course, In order for the new villagers to have amiibo cards, there needs to be more new/returning villagers so that the new card packs won't just be them.

Obviously, it's not like we own any data of the game. Not sure why they would go against it, if they want to stop it they have to release amiibo cards for the new villagers. People will just find a way to buy villagers with money without directly going from money to trading through eBay.

i was thinking that they'd probably just make all new cards. the amiibo cards we have now (excluding Welcome Amiibo) are themed for the animal crossing wii u game, which isn't really relevant to acnh's theme at all. but there's also been rumors that they may add more villagers to the game from previous games (though ive never seen any info as to why ppl think this), so if they do add more then maybe amiibo cards will most definitely be updated and sold again.

So I think this applies in cases where you'd adopt a villager from someone and pay with real money as opposed to NMT's or bells or whatever trading items.
I don't think it's the same when you're buying an amiibo card off of eBay or amazon (at least the legit ones shouldn't hurt Nintendo in anyway).
I just wonder how they're going to tackle that. I mean people could be messaging each other in private as well and making deals that way too. I guess the only way is if someone officially advertises villagers for money.

People will always find a way to get what they want, but I think it's responsible of Nintendo to do this.

this make little to no sense since the cost amiibo card sky rocketed during release.
if you're using someone else's content to make money then that's not right because it's not your content. the fact that people are selling villagers for real money in a game that they don't own the rights to is against Nintendo's terms of service. it sucks that amiibo card's prices went up but that's because Nintendo isn't selling them as much anymore.

Is Dom seriously gaining that much popularity? I love him a lot but wow

I understand that but essential if you own the amiibo card prior release of the game and you're reselling for a profit. you're selling the villager for money.

Not necessarily. The Sanrio collaboration only added 6 new villagers and they still came in their own separate pack.
