Nickname Question

When a player visits your town and talks to a villager, will that villager talk about you using your name, or your nickname?

In my experience, the nicknames are solely between you and your villagers.

It's your actual character name and not a nickname, at least I've personally never seen it anyways.

Only the catchphrases and greetings will mainly be visible to other people playing. In dreams I'm pretty sure it's the same as well. It would be cute if we were able to see what other people nicknamed themselves or what nickname villagers give you.
