Okay so I didn't get any nicknames from villagers yet (Because I prefer being called my character's real name) and every time they ping me with or without swimming trick its usually Nicknames.
I am wondering if I just tell them what their Nickname is for me, will they ask for Nicknames less often or nothing will change?
I usually accept nicknames, unless they're really horrible, in which case they ask me what I want to be called instead and I just say my real name. I get nickname pings quite often still but I wouldn't say most of the pings I get are nicknames. Maybe a fifth at the absolute most.
It would seem from what you've said that telling them to call you a nickname will reduce the frequency of nickname pings.
I rarely get nickname pings. When I do I make them call me Milady or just use my characters name.
I assume that if you get them to use a nickname the ping requests will go down for nicknames.
It's completely random on what they ping you about, from what I believe. Even if you have a nickname, they'll continue to ping you after you've had it for a while, so it's best to just choose one you like, keep saying no, or just go with what they give you. :>
I like nicknames tbh because it makes me feel like I'm special to the villager ( ? ▽ ` )ﾉ
I don't get ping's that often, so when I do I usually allow them to call me whatever they had in mind. I haven't declined any Nickname request. By far the worst one they called me was Beefcake. >.< It sounds kinda disgusting.
I don't get nickname pings often anymore, unless it's from a newer villager. I've turned down nicknames before because they're dumb and they'll keep pushing it, but once they ask me for a nickname and I tell them to call me Bunchies, they usually don't ping after that.
In my experience, they stop asking about nicknames for a while, but they can still ping you and ask you to change it. Nicknames can also spread around your town, and sometimes it's spontaneous, but other times they'll tell you that they heard another villager use that nickname and ask if they can use it too.
Personally, I like nicknames so I try to set them whenever I'm pinged.
I don't get a lot of nickname pings either, but everytime I do it's a terrible one. If it's from a villager that I like I end up accepting, but if it's from someone that I hate I'll reject.
Yea I don't get nickname pings much. I'm on my 3rd nickname right now in a month.
I think it's because you don't have one that they ping you. The game usually doesn't change nicknames very quickly, so they're pinging because it's an option.
I got nickname pings 3 times, 1 time by Kiki (she called me Mr.C) and 2 by Bruce (he called me Kid and Skippy) I find it cute when they give me nicknames :3
