New York Senate approves Marriage Equality Act.

Neither do our rights come from the Declaration of Independence, Brosephina. It's called the Constitution?

Edit - On top of that, I'm curious to know how you went from an unnamed and ill-defined "Creator" to the Bible.

How do you know? Did he tell you? Do you know the mind of God?

No, but the Bible backs up Alfred.

Can't people just agree to disagree? I mean, I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of homosexuality, but it's a person's way of life. I respect that. I can accept that just as much as I can accept any other person that has a different lifestyle than I do.

Trying to prove your point to someone who's already set in their ideology is a lost cause.

I'm happy for New York. It just means people are becoming more compassionate and understanding, and I commend that.

I don't see how homosexual is a way of life when it just means you're attracted to the same sex.
It doesn't mean you go to gay bars and sleep with everyone you see.

So me deciding to date a man isn't influencing my life in any way? It kind of is. My lifestyle would be completely different if I no longer had an interest in the opposite sex.

Edit: Perhaps I gave it a bit too much credit. Alone, it's not someone's entire lifestyle. It's just a part of someone's lifestyle that changes some of their habits.

I don't think somebody can be wrong for being gay. I'm not sure on this because I'm not gay, but... I'm pretty sure homosexuals don't wake up one morning and smile and say "I think that I wanna be gay!". I think homosexuals don't choose to be gay but they just happen to be attracted to the same gender.. That would be like somebody saying it was wrong to be white. I didn't choose to be white. It just happened. Call me out if I'm wrong. I'll read your reply. But, yeah. Although I'm not willing to argue, so if you're going to get angry I wont read.

This.

It is ridiculous how some people believe that homosexuality is a CHOICE; I know a few. Like you said, it just happens. It's a funny thing because some claim that being homosexual is an unnatural trait, when in reality, being homophobic is the unnatural thing.

I'm not gay, but it sickens me how people against gay marriage believe that it is their right to oppress those who wish to be married. What makes them think that their beliefs are so important?

They probably think that their beliefs are so important because they probably think that their way is the only way and if anybody goes against what they believe then they are wrong.

FINALLY! I'm not gay either, but as you said, this makes me much prouder to be a new yorker. For all the people against gay people, can't we just agree to disagree? The commercials like this make me sad

Things like NY doing this, make me happy. Good job new york :)

Wow, that video is ridiculous. I almost thought that was satire at first, but after looking at their YouTube page, it looks like they are serious.

The only thing that will happen if same sex marriage is made legal is that same sex couples will get married. It will not interfere with anyone's rights or beliefs.

I'm actually confused about the whole homosexuality, People say you're born that way and people say you choose it, because there are different types of homosexuals who show different ways of how they are gay, like a crazy sterotypically homosexual and a average gay guy. I don't really get the whole thing, I'm a christian and a believe that it doesn't really add up as if man and man were meant to be, then why can't they have children? I may sound kind of homophobic but I still believe they should be aloud to hve the same rights as God said everyone is equal. I'm pretty much agreeing with spirit.

Try sleeping with a man. Do you like it? Probably not. You were born straight, you can't just choose to be gay, like a gay person can't choose to be straight.

It's kind of like saying murder won't interfere with anyone's beliefs. How would you feel if they did, you'd think it's wrong wouldn't you?

That's ridiculous, no one loses anything when two people get married, but when someone gets murdered, well someone does!

In fact, that comparison was beyond ridiculous, it was ****ing stupid. comparing gay marriage to murder? That's one of the most hateful things I've ever seen.

Wow, you're a ******. Can you tell me how the union of two people is going to hurt ANYONE? "Traditional" marriages will still go on and people will still be able to hold whatever beliefs they wish. Allowing same sex marriage doesn't mean anyone is forcing you to do anything. Murder hurts a lot of people, a marriage does not.

,.... I may sound kind of homophobic ......
No you don't sound homophobic, your views do make sense. It gets me annoyed when someone has particular beliefs and then gets turned against with even harassment.

It annoys me that certain people's beliefs make them think they have the right to tell others what they're allowed do and who they're allowed do it with. See how that works?

....You're proving my point. If a person does not believe people of the same sex have the right to marry then they are relentlessly slandered. Do you live in America? Because when it was originally funded, people were allowed to express and support their views, lol I didn't even express my views on the subject but I just told another member he wasn't being unjust. I worry for who ever goes against what you believe, Ciaran.

For the record, I believe people of the same sex do have they right to marriage. But I also believe people should be able to state their views which will inevitably express the want or ban of a person's freedoms.

Well to be honest, not trying to start anything, but even though Atheists don't have a belief, they think they have the right to tell everyone that their belief is wrong and that what they've believing is stupid, even though it's their opinion. It's a Christians opinion about homosexuality and most of the time opinions aren't facts.

Well, thats unfair to say. Sure some atheists push their views on others, but not all do. And most atheists were brought up being forced into a certain belief system, so in a way that's natural.

Your paragraph is full of blanket statements. Not all atheists give out to religious people and not all Christians oppose gay marriage.

And opinions are fundamentally different from facts AND beliefs. You appear to be getting the three mixed up.

@Dillon: I don't care what people believe in, but I do care when people think their belief should be applied to everyone.

If you think gay marriage is wrong. Then don't marry another man. Simple as.

You got me there, Anyway, Like you said to Dillon I think people should just leave gay people alone, It's not that you're going to become gay if gay marriage is approved worldwide.
