This isn't really news, as we've already had Aya Kyogoku say that the devs hope to come up with content for 2-3 years.

This is more of a re-affirmation of that fact, but for all the people going "THE GAME IS DOOMED, WE'RE GOING TO STOP GETTING UPDATES AFTER THIS YEAR/FESTIVALE/NEXT MARCH" it's hopefully reassuring for you?

In other news, WHEN IS THE HARVEST FESTIVAL AND TOY DAY TRAILER GOING TO DROP? I NEED IT!

I'm really hoping the holidays change each year rather than being the same thing over and over. Even if the gameplay of the event stays the same, but the items change, I'd be thrilled.

I do really hope there's more content! Lately I've been seeing a lot of people saying this is going to be it, the game will die after the holidays. With so many people likely getting the game for Christmas and other holidays why would they stop releasing updates? That never made sense. I'm thrilled they're planning to add so much content or updates in the future, I think it will draw a lot of people back in.

I'm selfishly hoping that next week the trailer will drop for the update, with the update coming the weekend after. Fingers crossed!

The game really needs more added content because I often get bored in game and would love to eventually see more npc's and more events to do with friends on holidays and weekends.

The events alone aren’t going to guarantee that I’ll continue playing the game, but regardless that is still promising news. The datamined info about new ways to interact with villagers is what really interests me. I hope more orderable furniture will be added; at least this kinda confirms we might be getting more non-orderable stuff (since so far all the items for the events have been non orderable) and more furniture is a plus. I’m still trying to keep my hopes and expectations low so i don’t end up getting disappointed when the time comes for the release of the new content.

I didn't know we were even getting a festivale/carnival event so i'm interested in that lol
if it's true that there will be (free) content drops for a year or two then wow, i hope by the end of its life cycle ACNH will be jampacked with content. it is unfortunate tho that even tho it will update for years, the playerbase will undoubtedly continue to dwindle
for now tho, the playerbase seems to still be pretty active. and we'll definitely get a boost after christmas, so there could definitely be a major update after the holidays. we will just have to see!

I've heard rumors about this based on the last datamine - I think there was something in the data that villagers were going to be able to comment on things in your house. Hopefully it turns out to be true!

I hope the playdate thing is changed from NL. It's so annoying when they're like "can I come to your house/do you want to come to my house?" and you say yes and then they're all "okay, pick a time at least an hour from now!" There should be an option to either do it immediately, or for the player to set the time.

I'm most excited about the ceiling furniture, though. Hopefully that brings some fun new variety in indoor furniture selection!

The game has been out 8 months and no NL items put back, and it would be great to have them, as the other updates have been pretty boring.

Even halloween was basically all pumpkin lanterns!

I recall reading this from someone long ago...

When they tried to TT to 2021, the events (Bunny Day for example) did not trigger. That means that Nintendo had to push out an update for us to trigger the event again. But I'm not sure if that's still the case now.

I could also be recalling this wrong. But regardless if this is the case, we might have different event mechanics/new DIYs/rewards in the future for the same event.

Middle of next week seems most likely but my eyes immediately went to the piece on play dates from data mining. If that squeaked its way into the upcoming update, I'd be happy to see the return.

Curious to see if the Harvest Festival will be similar to collecting ingredients from New Leaf or if it will bring a little extra spice. Either way, I'm down for new furniture.

Agreed. I know there was the rare occasion where they'd follow you to your house immediately for an impromptu visit, but I cannot tell you how many times I forgot about scheduled visits.

I'm grateful that they are continuing to give us updates, however, I do fear that they might be spread out too much next year. Waiting 1 and 1/2 to 2 months for an update is way too long in my opinion and I hope that won't be their schedule. As long as we get one each month I will be happy!

I'm looking forward to the play dates! And I'm also really happy that the updates will continue for years to come. I played NL for 5 years, so I'm hoping that there's playability for at least that long. Also nice to see ceiling items make a comeback from HHD.
