Hi, I was always under the influence that the day after you moved in, a plot for the missing of the original 6 personalities would be there, but instead it's Julian....is this common to have a smug or uchi as first move in?

It's any of the missing ones, really. It's that the starting villagers will be of the original 6 personalities, so you can't get a Smug or Uchi among the first 5 villagers.

You will get a random move in of your missing personalities until you get all the personalities then you will get just a random personality... There is no order they come in.
So yes, a smug, uchi, or the remaining "original" personality can be the next move in.
In my cycle and main town a smug was the first move in.
