New Spongebobs Episdoes are trying to torch my sanity/childhood!

Spongebob (seasons 1-3) was a HUGE part of my childhood :) I loved it so much and it used to be pretty much the only thing I watched on T.V :) My favourite episodes being Band Geeks and Procrastination and my favourtie season being season 2 :) (I've put like a billion smiley faces but old sopngebob makes me soooo darn happy :) ) Anyway as I grew older I started to notice a serious decline in the quality of the episodes :/ Season 4 was fine, season 5 was meh but it was around season 6 where things really went sour for me. Episodes like "Penny Foolsih" and "Boating Buddies" made characters whom I had come to know and love boarderline phycotic and episodes like "Face Freeze" and "Squidward in Clarinetland" borderline creep me out! However, I could deal with it all.... Untill IT came....

IT being the episode "One Course Meal"

No...no way.. If you don't know the plot of this episode i'd reccomend googling it as the wiki page has alot more info than I do. I just feel that that this episode was the one that crossed the line from "not that funny" to "just not right" territroty.

Don't get me wrong I still respect all the cast of Spongebob, writers included and I feel that if they all put their noggins together they can come up with something that really resembels the absolute classicnass of "Choclate with Nuts"

Most shows decline in quality. Nowadays they make cartoons just because people can watch it and the fame and fortune got to their heads.

But you can't expect much after 10 years of episodes, they had to have run out of good ideas.
 
Cartoons these days are going down the drain. Crap like Sajay and Craig, Breadwinners, Crash and Bernstein, Jessie, and all that other stupidity. It seems Spongebob is going down the drain too. I agree, One Coarse Meal was disgusting and just plain out over the top. But it doesn't compare to the lack of mature humor, intelligence, and JUST PLAIN OUT LOGIC! No, farts aren't funny, no vomiting isn't funny, NO TOILET HUMOR ISN'T FUNNY. I'm sorry SpongeBob is going down the hill as well. I don't want American cartoons to be known as immature gross humor abominations anymore, i'm sick and tired of these idiotic shows. I'm tired of my Dad turning on the tv, scrolling down these immature abominations, saying "Man, there is nothing on today".

Oh man...I haven't watched Spongebob in years, not since they tried traumatizing me with all that body horror (the splinter, Squidbob Tentaclepants, Stuck in the Wringer) but from reviews I've seen it's just gotten worse and worse.

The thing that ticks me off the most is, the writers not only care, they're indignant over it! Looking at their twitter feeds, most of them just laugh in the faces of anyone who tries to tell them that what they're doing is potentially damaging for kids to see.

There's a youtuber called TheMysteriousMrEnter who does great analysis on these spongebob episodes. He goes in depth of why it's wrong to portray animal abuse, stalking, and intentional bodily harm in a kid's cartoon, especially in such gruesome detail. There's a pretty big difference between Wile E. Coyote cartoonishly falling off a cliff, and a realistic portrayal of a toenail getting ripped off.

Oh god don't even remind me of that toenail thing... That horrified and disgusted me at the same time.

I stopped watching Spongebob about 5 or so years ago... They ran out of good ideas and they're just squeezing the show for money at this point. It's a shame, too. Spongebob used to be one of the best cartoons in my childhood... Now it's just sad.
 
I think that the movie was the last good Spongebob in existence. However, in my opinion, there HAS to be at least one or two good new episodes, right? There are so many of them that came after the movie, you can't say all of them are bad. But yeah, for the most part, I agree with this.

My favorite was "The big one" or whatever it's. It was about surfing and it had Johny Depp.

roller cowards was ok but not as good as sand castles in the sand I just loved that one it was simple yet the writing was amazing (part of me says micheal bay wrote the last scene)
 
Every time you guys mention Sand Castles in the Sand, I think How I Met Your Mother.

Anyway, I haven't watched Spongebob since 2008 or 2009, but I remember thinking that the episodes were pretty bad then. The humor just became downright stupid, and a lot of it revolved around Spongebob being obsessed with Squidward. The jokes were incredibly forced and cringe-worthy imo.

I'm genuinely curious to know if the target audience actually enjoys these jokes. That's the only way I can see why this show's still popular.

Oh, I was just about to mention the guy!

I recommend all of you to check his channel out. He reviews everything good and bad down to it's core. I found him from his top episode list for Squidward Torture Porns. (That's what he calls it, at least.)

One of my Dad's favorite quotes of all time is something from an old Spongebob episode.

My dad runs a small business and says that to his customers all the time, I kid you not.

Classic Spongebob episodes were the best, I could quote lines from a ton of old episodes but I couldn't tell you a single line from the movie. I did see the movie, I know what it's about, I remember them getting drunk off of icecream and riding David Hasselhoff, I just can't remember any good quotes... Or just anything good...
