Pastor Camping Is Not Far Off
posted May 22, 2011

Though Doomsday prophet Harold Camping has made a ?comedy of errors,? this is no time for ridicule because he is close to right on most of his points. ?Close? doesn?t usually get credit in anything but horseshoes, yet to scoff at a time that the Bible says scoffers would come puts us on the wrong side of the ledger, and since this is about ?the end of days,? we would do well to consider how close to right he may have been.

First, the rapture. The ?rapture? is not found in most translations of the Bible, but that doesn?t disprove the concept. But a sudden snatch of believers to heaven is wrong because some of the texts used to support it are about a marriage.

Christians are prone to forget the Old Testament model when God took Israel from calamity in Egypt to a covenant relationship at Sinai and later said, ?I am married to you,? Jeremiah 3:14. And the Bible?s best theologian includes the Exodus when he writes, ?All those things happened unto them for [types] and they are written for our admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come.? 1Corinthians 10:1,11.

We are living amid unprecedented calamities. Calamities are a time of crisis. The Chinese characters for crisis are two: danger + opportunity. The Greek word, krisis, is translated ?judgment? in Revelation 14:7. A time of judgment is impending and what we do in a crisis can determine our destiny. It did for Israel as they left Egypt and bondage for the land God promised to give Abraham and his seed.

When God got ready to do that, He attacked the gods of Egypt. They worshiped the Nile; it turned to blood. They worshiped cattle; they got disease. Money is our god??in this god we trust,? and it?s going. We?ve kicked God out of courtrooms and classrooms; can we blame Him for withdrawing His blessing?

Camping was right on the issue of sin and a time for judgment, and his timing may have been close to right, ?as it was in the days of Noah,? Matthew 24:37. Christ said so in the context that we didn?t know (eido means understand) the timing. The Flood?s timing came after a week of scoffing, Genesis 7:4,11.

Two other times Christ said His disciples didn?t understand and His examples fit a provision in their law for Passover a month later, ?for the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country,? Matthew 25:14. The provision was for Passover in the 2nd spring month.

Combining these two concepts, the 7th (last) day of the 2nd Passover is May 26, a date with some history. A life-time missionary physician who does not believe in a rapture emailed the following weeks ago: The end of the world according to the mayan calendar is 26.12.2012. The great Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami of 2004 occurred on the 26th of December.

Perhaps we should also consider:
1. Gujarat India earthquake 26 Jan 2001
2. The Rhodes earthquake 26 June 1926
3. Taiwan earthquake 26 April 2010
4. Japan earthquake 26 Feb 2010
5. NE Japan earthquake 26 May 2003
6. NE Japan earthquake 26 July 2003
7. North America earthquake 26 Jan 1700
8. Yugoslav earthquake 26 July 1963
9. Aceh Tsunami 26 Dec 2004
10. Jogjakarta earthquake 26 May 2006
11. Tasik earthquake 26 June 2010
12. Mentawai Tsunami 26 Oct 2010
13. Merapi volcanic eruption 26 Oct 2010

OTHER HISTORICAL disasters :
14. Krakatau volcanic eruption 26 Aug 1883 ( 36,000 dead )
15. China earthquake 26 July 1976 ( 255,000 dead )
16. Portugal earthquake 26 Jan 1951 ( 30,000 dead )
17. Kansu, China earthquake 26 Dec 1932 ( 70,000 dead )
18. Turkey earthquake 26 Dec 1939 ( 41,000 dead )
19. Sabah Tidal waves 26 Dec 1996 ( 1,000 dead )
20. Bam, Iran earthquake 26 Dec 2003 ( 60,000 dead )

Is the number 26 significant in end-time events?

Read Haggai 2:6 in the Bible --- For thus says the Lord of hosts:
"Before long, I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land"

Coincidence or Could May 26, like the 7th day of Noah, be HUGE?
Let?s ?watch and pray? on the night of May 25, the eve of May 2.

?Blessed [are] those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching?
He will make [them] ruler over all that He has,? Luke 12:37,44

A huge earthquake May 26 will be Christ?s ?knock? in Luke 12:36. This is a wedding parable and we must ?open unto Him immediately? by a readiness considering information necessary for us to make a covenant (marriage) with Christ.

May God help us to be ready to respond to Him when He comes to ?knock.? This is not a visible coming, but a coming in Judgment as God said in Egypt, ?I will execute judgment,? Exodus 12:12.

And, yet again, the bar for Brewster's Caf? submissions is lowered yet another painful inch.

tl;dr

I wonder how many people are going to leave the religion after this doesn't happen.

Well in the article does it actually say he said the world would end May 26th? Or maybe I just missed that part I kinda skimmed through it...

Im sure all those disasters on the 26ths are just a coincidence

Oh lord, dese *****es need to get their dates right. Did they lose their diary or something?

LOL, wow. The guy who made the May 21 prediction (Harold Camping.) has now came out of hiding, and says that he made a mistake in his math....again! Now he proclaims that the end is actually on October 21st.

3rd times a charm, right?

He's too prideful to admit he's wrong.

EDIT: One of my favorite authors: "Tim LaHaye, co-author of the best-selling Left Behind novels about the end times, recently called Mr Camping's prediction "not only bizarre but 100 per cent wrong!"
He cited the biblical verse Matthew 24:36, "but about that day or hour no one knows" except God.
"While it may be in the near future, many signs of our times certainly indicate so, but anyone who thinks they know the day and the hour is flat out wrong," he wrote on his website, leftbehind.com."

LaHaye is only slightly less delusional than Camping.
