I don't know about you guys but I never play Animal Crossing without 3D turn on. It truly make the experience more immersive and this will not translate over to the next Animal Crossing Switch game. The 3D in New Leaf is truly stable for those with the new 3ds XL and it make the world feel even more alive. It is akin to a virtual popup book.

Anyone here feel sad that the next Animal Crossing won't be in 3D?

I just saw for the first time the switch commercial, it looks awesome, I woudn't miss the 3d option as much as I would love a new AC game, City folk was a let down after WW for me, a better NL sound even better!!!!!

It depends on whether or not Nintendo release the next one on the 3DS or Switch. AC feels more like it's best suited to handhelds now so I wouldn't be surprised if the next one is on the 3DS, the console has done very well so I can't see it becoming obsolete any time soon. Then again Nintendo may use the series as a selling point for the Switch while it's still reasonably new, so who knows.

As for 3D, I never use it because it makes my eyes tired after a while and drains the battery rather quickly. It's something I can personally live without.

Wow... I honestly forgot the 3D was even a thing. I never use the 3D, I don't really care about it and it's not very relaxing for my eyes.

I bought a 2DS because I didn't care for the 3D feature in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo released the next Animal Crossing game on the Switch, it's an excellent way to get fans of the series to buy a new set of equipment in order to enjoy a new addition to the series they love. Despite this, I'm hoping the next Animal Crossing game will be released on the 2/3DS. I really like my 2DS and I am broke.

Tbh I dont care about 3D since I never use it. I just dont wanna have to buy the switch for the new game.

I personally like the idea of the 3d, but I can't actually use it. The technology gives me awful migraines and a friend of mine will have a seizure if she glances at the screen while I'm playing ^^;;;

Even so, it would be a shame if people like you that enjoy the function were to lose it! On top of that, I REALLY hope that the next animal crossing game is released on both a handheld and a home console. I'm much more fond of my handhelds at this point and really hope that the trend continues... I love my PC games, but I frequently neglect them for my 3ds since the 3ds is just way more convenient. I'll totally get the switch and next animal crossing, but chances are that I won't abandon my beloved towns on 3ds unless there's a new 3ds game available ^^;;;

I've never been this attached to a game in my life, even with the original animal crossing I got bored and disinterested in my villies. New leaf is the game I play constantly, only stopping when I feel I have too much on my plate. The longest I've gone without playing on my main town is 3 months (pretty sure I was playing a different acnl town though, lol) and when I came back, Merengue just worried that I might have been over-working myself and getting stressed--which was exactly why I hadn't come to town in months. Basically, I'll be REALLY sad when we move on from New Leaf as a community.

I personally couldn't care less that this will probably be the only Animal Crossing game with 3D functionality. Reason being, 99% of the time I don't have the 3D turned on for any game, and to my recollection, I've never turned it on for New Leaf. It's a shame for those like you who utilized and enjoyed the feature though.

I'm hoping that we don't have a new Animal Crossing release for a while. I'm not done with my town yet, and now I have all of these amiibo cards. XD

I never use 3D on my 3DS for anything ever, except when I used to play Nintendogs and I'd want to see the spit fly in my face when my dogs licked my digital hand lmao. I accidentally slide the 3D on in AC and I feel like I'm going blind. Absolutely hate it.

Judging from all of these posts, the 3D feature seems to be very underrated. I don't use it though because it hardly has any effect with New Leaf (it's almost the same as playing it without 3D but slightly more depth). The 3D in Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS is headache-inducing but the 3D in Mario Kart 7 looks pretty nice. If the game was fully 3D (as in camera directly behind the player and no rolling-log landscape), the 3D feature will have much more of an effect.

I don't particularly care for the 3D features and don't use it while playing, so I wouldn't really mind there being other Animal Crossing games without it. That being said, I hope the next game is on a handheld. Although I had fun playing City Folk, I didn't play it nearly as much as Wild World or New Leaf because it wasn't portable. I'm probably not going to buy the Switch just for Animal Crossing (although that's totally what I did for the 3DS and New Leaf) just because of that.

I don't use the 3D feature at all. It hurts my eyes after 30 seconds. So, seeing that New Leaf will be the only 3D Animal Crossing doesn't make me feel sad.

This just shows how much the 3D feature was as a selling point to me... Not a point at all. :p

I almost never use 3D. I used to a lot when the game was first released, but my eyes are fragile and now I can't use it much. Only for fireworks and storms, things like that.

The 3D option gives me headaches, even though it's a lot more stable with the new nintendo 3ds I still never use it.

about the future of animal crossing of course the only option is the switch since tecnically is also an andheld
I would like a 3ds game but at this point it's out of question

The Switch is a multi-device: both a console and a handheld. You can take it anywhere like a portable and then plug it into a TV like a console. I'd personally buy a Switch just for an Animal Crossing game (unless the game turns out to be bad or a spin-off, which hopefully it shouldn't). Now you may ask why this isn't the same case for mobile phones as there's a mobile Animal Crossing game/app coming soon. The reason why I won't buy a mobile phone just for a mobile phone Animal Crossing game/app is because I'm not a fan of touch screen controls. Sure the DS and 3DS have a touch screen and so did the Wii U and possibly the Switch but with those you don't have to control everything with it. With mobile phone games, everything is done via the touch screen especially moving your character around and I really don't like touch screen movement controls.

Also, the title of this thread is actually wrong since Happy Home Designer is another 3D Animal Crossing game. Yes, I know it's a spin-off, but... it's still a game. Had it been "New Leaf will be the only 3D main-series Animal Crossing game!" then it would be correct.

I do like the idea of the 3D functionality but I hardly ever use it since I simply forget it's there, however I do like how nice it looks when you actually turn it on, it doesn't give me headaches or anything (then again I never use it for lengthy amounts of time), but I do know it's sensitive for those who suffer from photosensitive epilepsy, which I do have, however this has never been an issue for me since it's so controlled. So I guess there's pros and cons to the 3D, but it wouldn't be much of a loss in the Nintendo Switch. ^-^

I'm really surprise by the response. I thought more people would use 3D? I have really bad eyesight but the 3D in New Leaf don't bother me one bit and I play for several hours at a time. My eyes get really tire playing Rocket League though.
