I was wondering if anyone here has purchased the new leaf game guide book? I think it would be kinda cool to get just for the sake of having and looking through even if I don't really need it =3 If you have it would you mind posting your opinions on it?^-^%

If you're talking about the PRIMA one, I bought one as a gift for someone. I don't have one, I'd rather use MoriDB and the Internet.

I do indeed mean the PRIMA one ^-^%

I know the internet and has everything but I was thinking it might be nice to have a physical copy of a guide =3

True, but it does have several errors, like the way undervalued throne.

I bought it right around when I bought the game when it came out and I love reading through it every once and a while :)

I don't have it, but I think it would be much cooler to actually read from the book instead of just using google :D

The PRIMA book its self is good, but it does have some errors (I have it) and when it places store value it multiplies the price by 4 for some reason. It has great catalogs and guide (for hair and such) which I love!

If you want to get it, go for it! :)

I have the Prima one. It's not great, but I like owning it. I own the old AC guides, so I guess I was just following old habits!

Bought it June 9, 2013 and I've not looked at it since June 14, 2013. It's full of errors and it's nothing useful.

I can find everything I need to know on the internet for free. Plus I heard there's a load of errors, so I'll probably never buy it.

Wasn't a fan of the way the prima guide was laid out and organized. The City Folk one was tons better and it felt like they spent much more time on it collecting stuff and playing the game. I got it to have it, but I definitely regret the purchase.

I don't have it.. But I am a sucker for game guides. (Not necessarily for reading them about the actual game when i'm stuck) But more of a collection. I have some strategy guides that cost me 30 or 40 dollars and I've never opened them. I like collecting. :) I would say get it just for the sake of having it, plus I would really like one to see all the different ways Cyrus can customize items without having to search the internet.

This is exactly why I got it. As a guide, it doesn't hold a candle to the Japanese ones I have (official Nintendo/Shogakukan one and unofficial Perfect/Famitsu one), but it's cool to have some English reading material to flip through, when you want to casually 'experience' the game a bit without playing (it's not as stupid as it sounds!!).

It's not reliable as a guide though. Despite it having a lot of info, you'll find yourself double-checking everything on the internet just to make sure the book gave you the right info. That's how sketchy it is.

The other con is that it hardly has any visuals compared to the Japanese ones (sorry I keep comparing to the Japanese ones but once I had them, I couldn't ignore the huge differences in quality >_> ). The Prima guide doesn't even have pictures for the house exterior parts, VILLAGERS, or public works projects! Just compact text-based lists for those.

One redeeming feature is the fully illustrated catalogue of items, clothes, natural artefacts etc. which takes up 2/3 of the book and is very nice to browse through. As others have said, don't bother going there for info because there are too many landmines, but it's nice to have all of the items and pictures in one place, with an alphabetical contents list. Oh, it's also the only catalogue that spoiled the Astrology DLC items - no other guides at the time released that sort of info ;)

In short, the Prima guide is a cool little book to have - and I do love that it's a small compact book compared to the usual Western game guides - but only if your main purpose is to own it and flip through for entertainment.

P.S.
If you really want something just for the sake of having and looking through though, I fully recommend either of the two Japanese guides I got ;) That's if you have the means of/interest in getting them.

They are:

Nintendo Official Guidebook
which has an AWESOME catalogue layout.

Perfect Guidebook
which has the best Villager section
and generous large images.

I have the main prima game guide for all 4 games. It's my main tool when I was cataloging :) I luv it even though it has a few mistakes in it.
