New island designer

Hi!
Today I finally got to the end credit scene with our favorite KK slider

I’m wondering how other people approached the daunting task of island designing and what upgrades they bought with miles first, whether that be the water or the land construction and how they decided to design their island

any tips, advice and personal stories very much appreciated

i slowly flattened my island. i moved diva away from all of my villagers (because i initially hated her-not anymore lol) and i just... went with the flow. i feel like my island had a lot of meh furniture lying around, almost as placeholders for the real thing. now my island is finished and i don’t know what to do.

i... don’t really know . i would say non-cluttered industrial with touched of non-cluttered cottagecore.

I'm the same way, I don't really have a huge plan and it just sort of developed as I added villagers and decorated. I'll probably change it again in the future. I know that's not helpful. I think the easiest way is just to decide what you'd like on your island and how to make that come together. Any villagers or items you want to decorate around? Any features you love/hate?

I focused on getting the paths first.

BUT. I had also not planned on doing a ton of terraforming. I picked an island I liked the layout of, and used that as a base for what I planned to do. I cleaned up some cliff edges, moved rivers over a smidge, etc. But mostly didn't change much. I found it much easier to look at what I currently had and asked "How could I make it better?" If I had totally flattened everything and started over I would've been completely overwhelmed
But, that's just me!
