New Horizons needs more events

I agree with this so much. I come from WW, that was my first AC game, although I wish I played the game cube version because of the dialogues. Anyway, I remember in WW days all the little events, small but satisfying. Like the one where you had to compliment the villagers or sing. They were tiny, didn’t have any purpose, but I loved them. With NH it seems more like they are more interested in only the big events(bunny day, Halloween and so on) but I believe that they have taken out the simplicity of AC. Halloween for example, has been a race to get as many DIYs as possible, as many candies and so on. It feels more like a competition rather than something small to enjoy just for the sake of it. I wish they could find a balance between big events, which are absolutely fine, and small but thoughtful events, that can give the players a reason to talk to their villagers and connect with them on a “deeper” level.

nah not a huge fan of the idea of weekly events. this game isn't the sims. I can't see the game being enjoyable if you're constantly busy and feeling like you have to invest hours everyday into it. i don't think animal crossing is meant to be binged the way a lot of people have during this period of time to be honest

I disagree. I don't know about the Pocket Camp events because I don't play that game but the New Horizons events have just been... boring. Either that or they're too short and I lose interest fast. I'd rather have more long term effects such as more items or quality of life updates. I know events have given items but since I'm picky, I'd like to have items that are more "neutral" to decorate my house with so it's not either mermaid themed or Halloween themed. Those items are cute of course but we need the "meat" of the items. Right now, we're just being given the "toppings."

I feel like new leaf had the perfect middle. Frequent events, big and small ones. Like the summer solstice where you got a gift from Isabel or other small events. And then ofc stuff like April’s fools day!
It would be nice to have more events and I don’t meant like, these months long events like the wedding event or bunny day. Tbh 2 weeks of these events would be enough for me. I just hope for a few more smaller events that keep things more interesting.

I'm happy with the amount of events we have (and the ones that have been hinted at/announced). Consistent ones would get tiring, and I don't like having to feel like I must participate in a limited-time event or miss my chance at items in-game. Even if I were to have all the items, complete fossil/fish/bug/art collection, and a complete island, my enjoyment from the game comes from the time I spend chilling with my villagers, sending letters occasionally, trying out new looks (both clothing and interior/exterior), gardening, and relaxing. I like keeping things low-key in Animal Crossing. Those activities aren't tied to anything, and that's why I like them.

If we were to have 'filler' events, I would prefer them to be smaller in nature like the fishing tourney and bug tourney we currently have. Of course, I'd be down for weekly aerobics (similar to a K.K. Slider visit) or the flea market from previous titles too!

As someone who works fulltime and has a lot of high maintenance hobbies I'm glad this game is so slow! I sometimes have no energy to keep up every day or even every week, and I love that in this game its easier to pick up again after that.

But i completely understand your issues with it too! Im sure if your a student or partime worker or if you just need less sleep than me i can understand this game can get a bit boring.

One thing to note is that in April and May, we had some small events (museum week, may day) and people complained to high heaven that those were worthless...

So that may be why they are focusing more on big events - because those small events were so maligned.

(I liked them both, personally.)

I feel like I have more than enough to do around my island usually, but I also only just unlocked terraforming recently and also only play a couple hours a day max. I like the amount of events we have on atm because it means that I can actually spend some of my time doing other things around my island rather than just feeling like I need to be running around completing tasks for holidays all the time!! I don't know how I'll feel once I finish designing and decorating my island but for now I'm happy with the amount of content we've been given and I'm really looking forward to halloween :)

I already feel like this game is a grind, if Nintendo made events just like Pocket Camp, weekly with limited time access goodies, I would have dropped NH sooner/never cam out of my July/August hiatus. I already dropped Pocket Camp cause it was too much.

I wish there would be more one day event holidays, like Earth Day, Arbour Day, even international holidays that really don't warrant a whole month or even a week to celebrate. The month long celebrations are okay (thou recipe drop rates need some SERIOUS work) but can feel like a chore *coughWeddingDayEventcough*.
