I saw a post earlier today explaining how to carry out a new duping glitch that's been discovered.

I'm not going to explain how to carry out this glitch, or link to the post/the video in it because I don't want the knowledge to be spread if I can help it.

However, I will mention that the glitch works on 2x1 items that can be placed on tabletops. I imagine people will be using this to dupe fish like coelacanths (are they 2x1?) or other high-value fish to try and make money from it.

I just wanted to post this to signal boost that it does exist, hopefully some others have heard of this one too? I was going to try and attempt it just to see if it works and it's not fake so I could maybe report but I'm worried I'll feel icky doing that.

Great. Now 2x1 items are gonna be untradable.

But let's nerf the ABD interest!

Honestly so many bugs in this game. It's like they didn't test it first.
oh my god yes I hated that. Nintendo we paid 60$ for a game that you didn't even care to test.

Been like that since last week, didn't want to make a thread about it, the less people who knows about the less the damage.
But yeah, that's why so many people have been selling Katanas recently, and the bug is almost identical to one in a previous AC title.

They likely tested it for a good time (people reviewing the game also had I think 3 weeks of play prior to release)
Games with frequent updates like this are more prone to having bugs. More alterations to the code may lead to overlooked bugs or glitches that were not expected.
Dont know if you've ever worked with code but it can be pretty delicate at times.

There have also been similar dupe glitches in previous titles 🙂

Even if you did it out of curiosity or something in order to report it I would certainly not attempt it in case it damaged your game. Certain glitches can result in breaking a game I've heard.

I just want to say if the person that brought my katana is reading this it was a legit one

Indeed, but Nintendo insists on harming the players to stop "exploiting", and then the game is just full of exploits anyways, Nintendo where those cloud backups at... People are getting their saves corrupted left right, and center.

Oh jeez. Nintendo needs to know about this. And the staff here too.

yeah, people have been doing it with shark models and katanas !

(there are not thirty different types of katanas ! do not get scammed ) D:

Had someone message me asking for a link to it, told them no, they replied they found it themselves but were too lazy to attempt it. Sad that someone on here would want to try and dupe like that.

At least people are aware of it now

I feel like I'm more of the opinion that the more know = the more people can report it and get it fixed. Letting it fly under the radar just means it's more likely to not be noticed and removed, allowing the dupers to keep on duping.

Yeah that's totally true. Maybe they should test the frequent updates for a few weeks upon release too? That might slow things down but it would be better than creating huge problems like the current - button glitch.

Oh, posting about the glitch let's people know to steer clear of katanas and shark model shopping for a while, preventing scamming and making the dupers lose out on business, so.

The testing only goes so far as to test the new feature functions I believe.
So even if they tested the new updates for a month they probably wouldn't be checking if spinning an item to the left 10 times then spamming the crying emote 10 times before turning it to the right once will create a second one ykno? (not an actual duping thing but just an example.)

A lot of games like this where there are frequent updates rely on players to report these glitches in a timely manner so they can be fixed. It's just different for a lot of people who havent played games that use this system of reporting bugs to the devs. Especially a console game by nintendo that doesnt really state to report bugs unlike mobile games or mmos.

Sigh... this will inevitably lead to yet another mass inflation of the Bell : NMT ratio which is sad since I feel like the ratio was just starting to stabilize again :/

Also a very quick note, I heard it creates unremovable ghost items (like you can't see it and you can't place anything on those areas because it bugged, the game considers the specific tiles used by the duped items). So I hope dupers get their spaces bugged LOL. Imagine duping stuff only to get areas permanently useless. Hope it was worth it. :)
