New campsite reset trick question?

I was told (and I've tried it before) that if you reset on the day after your campsite is built, a new villager will appear in the campsite each time you reset, guaranteed. However, I'm having some problems with it. I paid for my campsite on the 25th of March, the date my town is set at. I then exited the game and time travelled a day forward to the 26th and loaded the game as a new character. The campsite was built, but no villager. I quit without saving, loaded up a new file with a new character after time traveling another day forward to the 27th, and still no camper. Am I doing something wrong? And if so, how can I fix it?

I believe you have to go on as your mayor and do the ceremony first.

Okay here is the run down. Basically it is random when a villager will come to the campsite. Usually you will get one every three to five days. When the campsite gets built, it will either be a tent or an igloo and will have a villager inside. The trick to the time traveling is that every new day starts exactly at 6:00am. So what you'll want to do time travel to say 5:55am on you Mayor account. Then once you load up the game, save and quit before 6:00am. If you wait until 6:00am to quit, then you're too late and a new day has started. So after you quit and save before 6:00am, wait a few minutes then start up your new character a enter the game. Check if the campsite is up or not. If it is not up, just quit the game and skip ahead another day. If it is up and a new villager is there, you can start resetting to get the villager you want. Remember once you find the right villager, you have to save on the new character you created, which means you need to build a house and talk to Isabelle to set your birthday. Also make sure you do not have ten villagers in your town when you do this because you can't have more than ten villagers in your town at once.

Edit: and this should work regardless of when your campsite was built.

I think it's true that there's a higher chance of getting a camper on the day (or days) right after the campsite is built. The usual campsite reset trick is more for people who already have a campsite. I think you need to attend the celebration as the mayor, though, before the campsite becomes operational. You can do that by talking to Isabelle in the town hall.
