Do you guys think we will get a new system released to accompany the update? We all know Nintendo isn't shy about releasing the system multiple times. We got a cool one with HHD and we are getting another for Pok?mon sun and moon. I'm hoping they're planning a new ACNL themed one. I really want a white New 3Ds XL.

Haven't they already released multiple Animal Crossing styles? My New 3DS XL has a Happy Home Designer theme (which I was told was only available in Europe and Japan, at least at the time), and I'm sure there was a New Leaf one with random shapes and logos on it.

No, because there is already the NFC Amiibo reader for this AND they have already released the ACNL on Nintendo Selects which I just got 2 weeks ago. So there really would be no logical or illogical reason to do so. They are working on the other system(Nintendo NX) last I read so putting out ANOTHER 3ds or 3ds XL just wouldn't make any sense or a money maker for them either.
As of recently within the last 7 days it is suppose to be just an update for the old 3ds and if you don't have the NFC reader, now or very soon would be the time to get one. I now have Muffy loaded/stored on my system because my son has the NFC, HHD, the new 3ds and about 100 or so amiibo cards and about 10 or so actual amiibos.
AND as Bowie said they have already released NUMEROUS 3ds's and XLS. In fact some of them didn't even do that well which it is why it is double unlikely they would do this.

I don't think they will this late in the day really. They're already working on a whole new console which I guess will be taking all their attention. I'm already annoyed with myself for not getting one of the animal crossing themed ones when I bought this and the CL still doesn't have cover plates as far as I know

Well as others have said, I too think its unlikely they will issue another special edition acnl console with the update.
But you never know, they could do & to some extent it might depend on the region you are in.
As OP said we have the Pok?mon sun & moon xl edition coming out (Nov 23rd in UK) and UK also has a new colour new 3ds XL - a deep orange/black inner with orange buttons due Nov 11th.
US has probably got similar - the purple galaxy? (Sorry I'm not keeping up well).
Nor have I kept up with what is happening with the smaller new 3ds - not so easy to get hold off currently in the UK, Nintendo could issue new plates for the acnl update?
Each region is different, in what is issued & what is easy to get hold of.
NX - hmm, so little info, I would not be surprised if it was delayed from Mar 2017. Whatever, I doubt an ac game would be a launch title for the NX.
Ninty wants us to keep playing acnl (with its update, possibly the mobile game later) - so yes they might do something to make us look at buying a console with the update. Not much time left tho to get it out to retailers.

I didn't even consider it until now but they might release a special Animal Crossing related NN3DSXL just in time for the holidays!
It is a very small possibility, but considering so many AC players still play with their "Pop Tart 3DS" they might put the update into a bundle.

They may re-release the original design. I don't foresee them putting a lot of effort into designing a new one. However, I make my NN3DSXL pretty by putting vinyl skins on it. The website I go to allows you to upload custom patterns, too, so you could technically make your own HHD or ACNL skin.

I already have 2 special edition 3ds's, if they release another one for animal crossing I will cry because no money :< I can't be dropping 300 big ones for cosmetics man
The design, for me at least, doesn't matter. Even if they rehashed the old 3ds design i'll get it. I just can't go back to 3ds after I've had the new 3ds. Plus I'm an XL guy since I have big hands so the smaller one really is uncomfortable for me to hold.
