So my new 3ds regular I got in April, has been blacking out.
It happeneds for around 1 second. Like a quick flash, but it's scary. It's only happened twice but still!
I brought it off the official Nintendo UK Store so I should have warranty.
Anyone can help? I'm super scared as it was a present and if it breaks, my mum will hate me...

Not sure TBH. If you can possibly reccord it and post it here I can look? Most likely its an issue with the screen-you'll need to sned it in. Luckily, Nintendo UK gives a 2 year warranty if bought from the website and they will be able to fix it :) However, you may lose the data from any downloaded games and street passes if they need to replace it. Good luck!

Loose display cable. Happens often in 3DS's. You'll need a technician to repair it.

OMG
Really?
It has only happened twice, first time I ignored it but I don't want to risk my DS breaking....
ERGH. Ok, let me do some research.
And il contact Nintendo when I get back from holiday.

My 3Ds' do this occasionally. I think it's because they think the game is in sleep mode. While its blacked out, I noticed that the blue light was fading on and off, like it does in sleep mode.
I don't know if this is the case with your 3Ds, though.

Contact Nintendo.

If you don't then the odds are that the glitch will only become more frequent and then before long you'll find yourself with a faulty new 3ds and an expired warranty.

It's like iPhones. Even if there's a click that's not supposed to be there, get it replaced.

When my stepdad comes back, he's phoning Nintendo for me.
Then hopefully they will repair it, I don't want a new 3ds. Luckily I have a 2ds as well so I won't miss my ACNL game.
Argh this sucks...

I don't think so, it's sudden. Like one second quick.

If your mum hates you after something breaks that isn't your fault then good parenting :

Keep in mind the Nintendo warranty is for manufacturing issues. This seems more like Wear and Tear or Accidental Damage, which would not be covered.

Oh! It could be due to a magnetic field or something around the area. IT happens on my laptop when there is a strong magnetic pull on it, because that's what triggers sleep mode :)

Oh :/
Well I'm phoning them anyway.

UPDATE
My DS completely powered off, and a text came up on the screen saying
'A problem has happened, please hold down the power button, if the problem persists please contact support Nintendo' or something.
I am so annoyed, I havnt dropped it once.

Yes, almost corrupted my town.
I'm using my 2ds now.
Not trusting it, phoning Nintendo as soon as my step-dads back as my mums deaf and can't talk on the phone... ARGH

Wow. It's definitely not just sleep mode confusion. I hope you get it fixed.

And tbh I've dropped my 3Ds a lot...

You don't have to drop something in order for it to break. Electronics could have faulty wiring. Elemental conditions such as weather could also have something to do with it. The unit may just be a lemon as well. Maybe it was a software update that corrupted the unit, or a corroded wire that's causing a hard-shut down cycle. No one here can really diagnose your issue. You'll have to see a tech for it or see if Nintendo will repair it for free.
