Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has announced that Nintendo EAD team is currently working on a 3D Mario title for the Wii U which will be shown off during E3. This game comes from the development team behind Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D Land. Iwata also announced that a new Mario Kart game is in development for Wii U. Both of these games will be playable at this years E3 event in June.

I'll look forward to a new Mario Kart, I love being able to use all the different characters. Main Mario games never let me do that! :(

Tell me about it. I always get more fun out of a Mario Kart game.

Of all the games shown/discussed on Nintendo Direct, these two are by far the two that interest me most. I hope they both come out this year.

I am hoping the Mario game isn't Super Mario Galaxy 3 though. Even though the Galaxy games were great, I'd prefer something new and not planetoid-based. But either way, it's a day-one purchase.

Well, they'll both be in playable form so that's a sign. I feel like one of them will be pushed until early 2014 though. Definitely agree about Galaxy 3, I want something new. Actually, I'll take a Sunshine sequel too.

I hope they make the difficulty level for getting 3 stars between Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7. For some reason, I can't seem to get 3 stars on the flower, star, or special 150ccs.

I am just assuming that the Nintendo Wii U Gamepad will be an optional wheel accessory for Mario Kart U.

Talking about Mario Kart, I would like people's opinion here, considering that the Nintendo Wii U doesn't have Gamecube support, what would be the best alternative to a Nintendo Gamecube Controller to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii on my Nintendo Wii U console?

I always used wiimote + nunchuk on MKWii because I don't currently own a Gamecube Controller and it works really well. It really just depends on what you're comfortable with. My sister was good with the Wii Wheel and nothing else.

I still found that getting 3 stars on 150cc in MK7 was fairly easy. I'm currently working on getting all 3 stars on mirror mode and although it's a lot more challenging it still could be done if you play it enough. All you have to do is make sure you stay in 1st for most of the race, at least for the entirety of the 3rd lap, and don't fall off or get hit by things like Piranha Plants. It also helps to constantly look at what items everyone has in the bottom screen and keep an eye for blue shells, and let the one in 2nd take first place before they use it. I'm hoping the difficulty in MKU will be the same or a little more challenging.

Question. Do you need 3 stars on Mirror Mode to get the 3 stars for your name in wi-fi?
