Never accidentally scare away a Golden Stag again! :D

Hey guys! I have no idea if this little idea was posted but I thought of something that gives me 100% catch rate for all beetles, even those Golden stags that I could never catch before doing this. I think this will be very helpful for new people, or people who are horrible at catching beetles, like me!


I provided pictures with steps! I'm doing this on the island btw


Step 1: Find a seashell, or it could be any object really...I just like that the shell is small...and with it in your inventory, you are going to walk up to a palm tree until you are able to finally hit the tree with your net, but you are at the farthest distance that you're able to (cause if you're too close, you're gonna scare the beetle).

Once you found the spot, place the shell on that area

Step 2: Now that shell is your marker for when you are close enough to catch that beetle and release A and get it!

When you spot a beetle, you will walk up to it until you get a bubble showing the item's name, that is when you know you can catch the beetle.

And the shell will always stay at the spot you put it, even if you leave and come back!

Great idea, you can also use the tree's shadow for this, when your shadow touches the tree's then you know it's time to strike!

This is a neat idea... though, I catch them w/o fail...but sometimes I accidently scare them even before I get near the tree at all T^T

This is very helpful! Although I'm great at catching beetles, I'll have to try this out sometime.

I have mine all mark with shells because I was having problems in the beginning.
Carried the shell and when I caught the bug I dropped the shell in the spot.

It also helps to replant your trees so they're straight or not to close to another one.
I have 3 trees on each side of the island. I finished my 5,000 bug catch and put back some of the middle trees.
Comes in handy for getting giant stags and rainbow stags for your villagers.

Ooh, this is a great tip!
Another tip (without the shell) is that, when you're stalking, watch the bug. If it freezes, do the same until you see it move again before creeping closer. I can get right up next to beetles like the golden stag and still manage to catch them this way too!

Really, it just depends on how you sneak up on them. Going to fast or not slow enough is what really scares them away. Distance wise, I just use the tree's shadow.
