as i have been reading through the forum, i'm not really upset, but more so disappointed with all the negativity. you have to remember that time when you made your first sig, when you starting learning how to use photoshop, and ALL of us are STILL learning. and when your commenting on a person's art don't just tell them its a "piece of trash" give them areas that they can improve in as well as things done correctly in their piece.
if you've been around long enough, you probably remember when i was a cocky *censored.4.0* and would just trash everyone's work. but now i realize that i'm really not that great and i have a long way to go. so now i like to stay positive and help other people learn, because after all i'm still learning as well. and if you haven't noticed i never rate sigs because that's just not me. I feel that rating sigs is rude and insulting. and being a part of the gfxr community, i have learned that we have all been in the same position on time, or another, and that it's not just how well you produce sigs/art, but how passionate you are about learning and getting better.
so i encourage everyone here to change their state of mind, because if we keep getting down on one another, none will feel confident to learn, expand, and become a better artist.

It's true, but that's like everything starting anew on something.
Words of encouragement are the greater way to help.

I admire your views on this and couldn't agree more... I still need a heck of a lot of help with things like that... and it can be off-putting when someone calls the work that you spent time and heart into a piece of rubbish or w/e... ; )

My criticism is only given to people that deserve it. There are people on this forum that are making sigs and aren't in the least bit passionate or willing to learn, and hence they don't improve.

This. You shouldn't lie to them and tell them, "Oh, it's okay, you can do better, but it's great for a first try." I got criticism on my early signature and having them called *censored.2.0*. But that's when you have to accept it. It's great to encourage someone, but when all you are doing is encouraging and not in the least bit criticizing, it becomes wrong.

Difference between lying and giving advice in a none negative way.

True, but personally, when you give someone negative criticism, it makes them want to try harder to improve, whereas if you tell someone it's fine, then they have no reason to improve.

I personally find negative criticism deflating, I'd much rather someone said to me,
"Good *blah blah blah* but next time do/use/try *blah blah blah*"
But maybe, that's just me.

i'm not saying that you just tell everyone good job. i'm saying that you give them so positive motivation and so constructive criticism. calling someones work a "piece of *censored.2.0*" is destructive.

Well yes, I agree with you on that. But the only person I've seen do that is that Cybertooth fellow.
