So today my mom and I were talking about what I wanted for my birthday. Jokingly, I said I wanted a 360 and a laptop, because I'd asked her if I could get these numerous times, always getting a no. But today, she said maybe, but only if:

A ) I paid for it myself
B ) I could only get one
C ) If I chose a laptop, I had to let them check my Internet history whenever they wanted.

So now I need to decide which I would get, if she says yes. All my friends have said 360, but I could do so much more with a laptop. I'm never allowed to download/install anything on my computer, and I wouldn't have to share a laptop.

Which should I get? Also, what kind of laptop should I get, if I choose to get a laptop?

360.

Or, a good laptop for gaming. Like, with Steam...if that's even possible, I dunno'. I'm a computer n00b, as I've said many a time.

Although, I'd still say 360. It's just...amazing. D:

Laptop for sure man!
Any specific kind? I'm trying to keep the price around or under $600-700, as I have $450 and I'll be getting some more for my birthday, but I don't want to spend a ton of money, ($1,000+) as that would take me a while to save up. (So far my summer job hunt has been a failure)

That's what I would mostly use it for, as I'd still use my family's desktop for homework, and other than that I don't do much on my computer.

dont just base your decision on gaming...
I'm not, that's just one of the biggest factors in my decision. Like I said, any writing/homework/anything that gets printed will be on my family's desktop.

How old are you going to be and what grade are you in?

Laptop no doubt! I was going to get one from my parents, but I opted for 'home studio'. If I had a choice of 360 or laptop, though, I'd go for the latter without a second thought.

Laptops are very cheap these days, and I'm sure you could get a good one for $500-$700.

8th grade, turning fifteen.

360's are awesome, but it really depends on which one you personally want more

I'm leaning toward laptop, seeing as I'd have the most use for it. There are only two or three games for the 360 I want.

My friend said he has a pretty good one that cost him $500. My cousin said get one that costs around $600. My other friend said a mediocre (I doubt he even knows what that means, though.) one costs at least $1,200, while a good one is around $2,000. But he's not too smart.

Wait... for your birthday your parents are "allowing" you to buy something for yourself... cheapskates...

Yeah, there's no way I would do that (let my mom check my history whenever she wanted...)

:P

Not that I go on websites I would need to hide from them,

;) but what she doesn't know is I can delete my history. So that's not a problem for me.

If you use firefox you can delete certain sites from your history... not that I would know.

I won't ask. I'd say you should get a laptop.
