OP had a big problem with the paths in her town and asked for help and suggestions. I wrote a huge long rant about path design and routes on page 5 but there's lots of other tips and discussion from lots of different people. Check out Yen Quest's landscaping concept too!
Hellooo! *waves* Did someone just mention me? [/silly-yenny]
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder~ *coughs* Laying down pathways doesn't really require creativity persay... It's more like problem solving type of field (working with what you got).
To make things easier for you, I suggest doing the following:
- Take a picture/image of your map and load it into your computer so you can edit it.
- Dot out areas on your image map to indicate where the permanent rocks are in the game.
- Line out your pathway layout idea on the image so it could be used as temporary guide.
- Use your character in-game to double check on accuracy (by having him/her pretend he/she's walking on a pathway).
- Once you finalize the final version of your pathway (after fixes here and there), you can then start placing down the pathways in-game. This way, you don't waste time placing down a complete pathway, only to tear it all up and start over.
