Need advice on which villager to replace :(

So I never had a cranky villager for months, but got Apollo and Kabuki within like 5 tickets... so I have 2 crankies now and hope the are not too similar T_T

I really aim to find Marshal and Deirdre again one day.

I love Olaf, he's my first smug, he was way more fun then Kyle and he's the clown of my island. But I think I might have to let him go first to increase my chances with Marshal?

My options are:

1. Olaf or Molly. Olaf only because I want to increase Marshal's appearance, he's awesome! Molly because I'm not feeling her too much, but she's the cutesttttt.


2. Apollo or Kabuki. I'm scared both of them will be too similar. I wanted Kabuki more, but Apollo came first (

3. Ruby. Peppy is my least liked personality, but Ruby is also my fav peppy. I also have her mainly so that peppies don't show up as often.

Villagers:
Lucky, Beau, Marina, Diana, Roald, Ruby, Apollo, Kabuki, Olaf, Molly

Apollo and Kabuki, haha...my two favourite Crankies; I'm still searching for the former. Congrats on finding them. They're the same type of villager, have the same sub-personality among the Crankies and have the same hobby, so I can understand ultimately letting one of them go if it feels like their dialogue has gotten stale.

Meanwhile, Olaf and Marshal are the same subtype but have differing hobbies (Education vs Music) -- however it sounds like you really want Marshal. If you expect to talk to him a lot, you might notice (like I did) that the dialogue begins to get rather stale for your other villager of the same personality. I let another Peppy go after not being able to shake the feeling that "these are Bunnie's dialogue lines; this is wrong!" when talking to her after weeks of prolonged exposure to my favourite peppy rabbit.

The above also applies to Molly, who is a Normal just like Marina -- however they are at least different subtypes and have different hobbies.

As to Ruby, I'd personally save her since she's your only Peppy and you like her enough to have her on board, but if you find that her personality is grating on you and you're tired of having her in your town, I wouldn't judge you for letting her go.

i’d get rid of molly and apollo since you seem to like olaf and kabuki more but since you want a better chance at getting marshal, maybe olaf would be the better option

Idk if villager type has any baring on who you will get. It SHOULD, but for me, I ended up with 4 normal villagers, only have one cranky which I amiibo'd in, and have never had or even SEEN a snooty except when visiting someone else's island.

Definitely nothing wrong with that. I opted not to have a Sisterly (despite liking the personality type) because none of them were even close to matching my town aesthetic. But in the case of this thread, I have an inkling that the OP is taking personality variety into account.

I have my worries with Kabuki and Apollo but they're both still new to the island. I guess I'll see and decide eventually.

It seems Olaf maybe the one leaving as of now. I like him a lot, he was my 6th villager (campsite), I really disliked anteaters at first but this guy grew on me so fast! I really want to keep him, but him here kinda lowers my chance to find Marshal T___T

I get you. I had 4 lazies one point, I liked them all but their dialog started to become very repetitive and that made me curious "what's it like to have a cranky villager?"

Thanks and yes I only get villagers my self and I prefer nmt island over campsites. I admit I like the surprise element (villager+island). True that I like Olaf a LOT...sigh... but he lowers the chance of me meeting Marshal T__T, I dont mind meeting Olaf again after getting Marshal

Thanks I might have to decide between him and Kabuki one day. But I think I'll get to know them first!

Not a huge fan of Apollo so I'd get rid of him if it were me.
I like Kabuki's design way more.
I wouldn't kick out Ruby because then you'd be missing a personality type.
