My worst nightmare has happened

... I lost my game.
So basically something happened to my 3DS (it's literally almost 6 years old) and it got corrupted apparently and everything was formatted. Including one of my ACNL games. I have 2 physical copies and one digital, so that one is gone now. I started that town 2 months ago and was just starting to get it together, and it's all gone... Has this happened to anyone else? Or have you ever had a corrupted game? If so, was there any way to get it back? My digital game was on the SD card but it was gone after I popped it back in after the restart.

I'm feeling a mixture of anger and sadness because I got all of my dreamies and now I have to spend hours finding that damn layout again. Honestly I wouldn't wish this on anyone. All that time and hard work. :/

I'm sorry to hear that I know about problems with corrupted digital copies as 2 of my friends have had issues with it before now. Was talking to somebody else on here about it the other day actually
Not sure there is any way of recovering what you have lost unfortunately very sorry

Aw that's unfortunate. At least this didn't happen to my first game, that has 3 years invested into it and I probably would've gone bonkers. >.< Still sucks though.

Digital corruption is a real thing, and you are a victim.

How can all of us help? Truly I don't know all your towns and what you have and don't have.

Thank you everyone for the kind wishes and offers <3 I'll try to buy everything back, I think the most annoying part though is finding the closest thing to my previous layout and getting all the PWPs back to try to make it look like the one I lost ;_;

and the hundreds of cedars and carnations and hollys I lost ugh this is why you shouldn't get digital copies

Me too, I keep trying to remind myself that I can make it better than it was before (There were a few things I didn't like, such as some of the villager house placements and the police station). I also didn't really like the town name, so I keep trying to remember that I'll be able to change the stuff I didn't like and make it "new and improved".

This is exactly why I wish Nintendo would implement a cloud based backup system. Whether the the game is digital or cartridge shouldn't matter we REALLY need a way to protect our games from this form of devastation.

There's actually a reason why they don't have backup system. It could result in people abusing the system to get as many rare items as they want. I do see good intentions, but some people would use it for something else.

My whole 3DS got currupted somehow (The problem seemed to be within the 3DS itself and not physically), so there was literally no other choice except to format it. It works better/properly now, but the town was on a digital copy which was deleted when the 3DS was pretty much deleted too.

I'm sorry for your loss I felt the same way when Portia moved out. That was the second time I've ever blushed (The first time was when my mom looked at my search history lol) and I literally felt heat on my cheeks.

How do you corrupt a game? Enlighten me.
