My watering can won't break when I want it to

I made a grave misatake.
I bought 8+ elephant watering cans to provide as a gift for people who water some flowers and I now have 7 of them just sitting in my town. No problem, I'll just water my entire island worth of flowers with one of them and I'll be good to go!
The thing is, I've watered hundreds of flowers daily with ONE watering can and it just won't break??

Why has the game cursed me with tools that are too durable when I just want them to break?

P.S. if anyone comes and waters a couple flowers for me I'll give you a free elephant watering can

Good to know!! That might explain why it feels like its taking so much longer to break
