I have about perfect town status when it comes to PWP's and enough flower, trees, ect.
At it's been about 2 months in real life time that I havent been able to have 10 villagers. Ive had many villagers move out lately. I've probably had 3-4 villagers move out since June/july. I dont understand why they keep leaving. I only invite cute villagers from the campsite so I know I'm missing out on the other ones who don't fit my "standards"(blech)

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Any insight/advice is greatly appreciated.

I don’t know how true this is as I’m only speaking from experience and haven’t really gone into testing it, but I found when I tried to have a town of theme villagers that coincidentally had the same or similar personality types, the villagers would ask to move out a lot more often. I can only put this down to the game trying to equalise out the towns character diversity and avoid having towns with all peppy or smug villagers etc. Like I said, I can’t prove this, but it just seems like more than a coincidence that my two themed towns have villagers asking to move out a lot more frequently than my non themed one. In fact, my non themed one will be 4 years old this December and I still have 3 of the original villagers living there.

I've never had a theme going for my town and all my animals have been diverse with species and personalities so if that's true or not, I dont think it would effect my town too much. I do time-travel but usually in small doses.

I guess I just did a quick look and I have a couple of normal villagers but for the most part, theyre all different. Also prince just moved out so now Im down to 7

The things that mostly affect whether villagers move or not are time traveling and not playing for extended periods of time.Villagers ping to move generally every 3 to 6 days and once they're set to move, they have 7 to 10 days before they pack up and leave.Do you talk to all of your villagers? If you don't talk to them or if you ignore their pings then you might not know if they're moving or not.If that's the case, they'll just skip town without you knowing.

Do you mean this as in you want 10 villagers and you're wondering why you can only reach 9? If so, I believe the 10th villager has to be moved in differently - when you have 9 villagers you can either invite someone from the campsite or accidentally pick up a villager from someone you've connected with or purposely ask a friend's villager to move in, etc :)

It's just game mechanics. Without moving a character in manually (via campground, other towns, amiibo, etc.) your town will have between 8-9 villagers. If you have 9 or 10, your town will be in "move-out" mode where eventually villagers will ping you to move out - and if you miss the pings, you can't keep them. If you have 8 villagers, your town will be in "move-in" mode where eventually a new villager will plot eventually.

I always talk to everyone unless I'm trying get get someone crappy out. *cough* Diva *cough*. They all ping me everytime about moving(only say no to the ones i like) I should be happy that its my unwanted animals leaving but I'd prefer if someone actually moved in so I can have perfect town status.

2 of my remaning 8 villagers are from the campsite. Does it have to be the 10th? I can barely get to 9 villagers sometimes.

Hard to explain, but as it is your town will stay between 8 and 9 villagers - it won't go below 8! Don't worry about not getting back to 9, if you're at 8 you WILL have a villager move in soon (I think it's within a week or something of losing your last villager but I may be wrong). So when you're back at 9 villagers, invite someone to move in from the campsite/another town, and you'll reach 10.

I personally prefer to avoid being at 10 villagers though, as I like to leave space in case a dreamie comes to the campsite :)
