My villagers keep having arguments with each other?

So for the past couple days I've been running into my villagers talking to one another, and they always come out of their discussions either angry or sad. Except for one time where Margie convinced Roald to wear her pink flowery shirt. It's just weird to me that I'm seeing so many villagers interacting so often all of a sudden? Is this triggered by anything or is it just random?

It's random, but in my experience, whenever it shifts to the next hour (when the bell rings), villagers end up talking to each other.
