I've been playing the game very slowly because university work has been unreal right now, so I finally got to the campsite stage. Before this, my starting villagers were Reneigh, who was the one new villager I really wanted to get out of all the ACNH ones, and Iggly, who is one of the few jocks I actually like. I'd have loved to have gotten Genji, but when I discovered they won't have their actual interior if they're your starter, I was actually quite happy not to get him. They were both on a list I made before I started playing of the villagers I would like to have as well. It had my dreamies - still looking for you Stitches, Erik and Dobie!- and about 60 other villagers I would enjoy having on my island, at least for a bit. Not a very broad selection considering how many there are in the game. But how lucky that both of my starters were on there!
Then came the three plot stage. I prepared by buying about 25 Nook Mile Tickets, but worried if it would be enough. I shouldn't have worried. Altogether, I went to just 4 islands in total. The only villager I didn't invite was Hornsby, and honestly, out of all of the bad options, I wouldn't have hated him. He's marginally cute. I like his name. Sorry, Hornsby, but I had many tickets left.
The very first villager I found was Melba, who was my top choice for a normal-type. Then I found Audie, who I'm probably not going to keep because I like some other peppies better and honestly, her house is just very very blue
She is really fun to have around for a while though, and was even on my list. I went to my next island, where I had the slightly unfortunate encounter with Hornsby. This did make me think, so I got my list out and planned to try to fly until I found Stitches or Erik. Although I also kind of wanted to wait so they could have their original interior. So I looked who was on top of my list then in terms of lazies: it was Punchy. And who did I meet on the first Deserted Island I flew too then? Yes, indeed, Punchy! He's adorable. I'm not even mad that he doesn't have his own interior, because he gleefully told me the peach chair that I made him "fits my butt... perfectly." Oh, Punchy

Then came the campsite. Here, I knew two things. One: I had to take the first villager the game threw at me. Two: While I had been so lucky with almost all of the villagers the game decided for me, I knew this was too good to continue. I knew my luck would turn at some point. I knew this much good fortune, this much happiness, this much pure joy could never last.
I was right.
Inside... was Rodney.
