If removing flowers: Keep a trashcan and a DIY bench by you as you go along with a pile of customization kits. Customize your shovel every inventory full of flowers you dump.
Moving flowers: same deal without the trashcan and customize every inventory full moved.
This will reset the durability of your shovel. You can also keep them from spreading too much with a transparent path.

ugh i wish leif would buy flowers for extra money like he does with weeds. i think id be much more motivated to clean up my flower situation, lol.
also once you hit a certain number of flowers on your island, they need to lower flower spawn rates, especially since they dont wilt anymore!!

What a mood. Doesn't help that I've been centralizing rocks for over 2 weeks now (6th rock is not spawning in the shape I want), so the flowers and mannequins are everywhere. 
I've been trying my best to do
that but decorating my island is much more fun than cleaning flowers up so I usually get pulled away from it.

That's where the paths come in. You can stop them from spreading while you work. I'm undergoing a massive remodel project on my island and some kind soul explained how to keep my flowers under control.I've been trying my best to do
Oh yes I've redone some areas with paths to keep them with spreading
. This area was my big flat upper part of my island I was using only for flower breeding. I was silly though and didn't contain the breeding flowers in fencing or pathing and now it's all a mess.

Same. I have way too many hybrid lilies. Most of them I've been able to find a spot for, but I've started selling some of them to Timmy and Tommy.

Here's me not quite a month ago with all the extra flowers I was collecting and subsequently moved to the beach:
The purple roses and the hyacinths were especially taking over. I eventually decided to just sell all the ones I thought would be low demand to the Nooklings (most of the orange flowers) and try to give away the better ones.
My work is not quite done - I have a few more batches of pink and blue hyacinths to give away (pm me if you're interested lol) - but at least the rain is! Pruning my island daily has helped me control the population for the most part.

Pruning daily is definitely the way to go! I got sort of lazy and now I'm paying the price.
Flowers were one of my favorite things in NL but I have to be honest I'm not loving flowers in NH. I think it's just because I have to use a shovel to pick them up nowadays. Like, alright cool, it's kind of neat to be able to "pick" flowers without ruining the plant itself but it doesn't feel worth it to me.

I'd have been OK with having to grow entire plants and use those for things like wreaths and stuff instead of just plucking the flower off the plant. Also I keep brutally murdering my flowers by trying to fill in holes with Y but I'm standing too close to a flower and just end up ripping it's poor little face off.

I've had the exact same problem, I tried giving away all my flowers and hybrids here on TBT and nobody was interested in coming over and taking them. Right now my town looks like a mess cause I don't have the energy to come dig up a million flowers. If you know anyone who also plays maybe invite them over to take whichever flowers they'd like
Yeah I'm thinking of maybe seeing if I can pay anyone to help me out a bit with them. I'll post a picture of what it looks like after it's all cleaned up!

I feel your pain! I had finally gotten rid of all my extra flowers, but a week of rain every day is sending me right back to way too many. I can't seem to keep on top of it every day.
