Musical Instruments and K.K. Songs

Hey guys!

It's been weeks since I found out (randomly, by myself) that when you have a song playing on the stereo and you start playing on your guitar, piano, etc, nearby, the notes sync up with the song and suddenly you can try and play along!
The notes stop sounding random and if you practice and memorize well enough, chances are you can play music in-game!

I shared this on reddit and other social media platforms to see if other people knew this, and not many did, so I'm here sharing how it works out!

Oh wow that is awesome! I only once caught a villager (Leopold) playing the drums outside. I thought it was random.

I had to practice a lot, and found out that is helps if it's a slow/calm song. I started slowly just playing a note here and there, then eventually got bold. I also made a video explaining (or trying to, sorry!) how to play along K.K. Sonata

It's basically Wii Music 2. I love it. Makes me wish there were more instruments included, though. My string quartet has to replace the viola with another violin. And winds really need more representation. I NEED A TUBA NOW!!!

Also, more instruments to hold would be to die for. The ocarina is my favorite (it also syncs up with music, if you didn't know), and then the pan flute and tambourine are pretty cool too. I want more tho! Maybe like a kazoo or a mini version of the synthesizer. The thumb piano should have been holdable.

Even in maximum volume in the stereo? Try inside the house, it'll be less noisy with background music.
Ahah thanks, I learned how to solve the cube with the help of youtube but I thinkI already forgot!

I LOVE holdable instruments, whenever I use the tambourine or see people playing the tambourine along with villagers singing I find it incredibly adorable. So I agree! More instruments! More holdable ones too! That'd be awesome.

It's awesome! K.K. Rider is also a very good one to play along with. And K.K. Steppe.

I have a little music band with the DJ turntable outside, the animals will come around to play the song I set for the turntable. They especially like the tambourine. I just can't really get the rythm right to play the music myself.

I understand.
Maybe if you pick a slower song, and practice with it, it'll be easier?
Some songs might work well if you hit the tambourine every 1 second or 2 seconds. It's a simple play-a-long but a good way to start

I know it's hard to get them to do it, but if you have an instrument outside by a music player, animals will play them. The rhythm is tied to the song, however I'm unsure if it's also tied to each instrument (such as tambourine on the upbeat, and bass on the downbeat). It'd be fun to see just how they play when they do.

the best way to do it is to find the best to the song, and just play it on the beat. the notes will synchronize!

Haha sorry I keep posting here, but also, if it's an instrument that can play longer, holding A will make the note hold as long as you hold the button. The strings, organ, and ocarina/pan flute do this. The guitar and bass will also hold longer, but decay as a typical plucked string does.

yes, maybe that's why I rarely use the bass in the game for playing along K.K. Songs because it's more difficult to hear it.

That's interesting! I remember trying exactly this long ago to see whether it was a thing, but it didn't seem to sync up in the slightest... Maybe I should have tried slower songs.

Try first with K.K. Sonata and a piano or harp! They go along pretty well
Also, the first time I found it didn't work because I went ahead and tried playing too much too fast or too many notes. My tip is start only step by step, one note here, there, and most importantly, memorize the song so it's easier to know a good timing to play along.

Oh man, this is SO hard! I am very good with rhythm in general (used to drum, still play rhythm games) and this really takes some getting used to because sometimes it mixes up your beat and it's hard not to let that throw you off... But I can't deny that this definitely can't be random notes! Behold, my attempt on drums
