Hi ^^ I?m trying to box up Lucy but it is taking much longer than normal. I?ve ignored her consistently and hit her with my net, but still no luck. I?ve had 4 villagers who I talked to every now and then move away. Any tips to make Lucy want to move?

Do they talk to you when you hit them with a net?
If not, just keep ignoring them, it'll happen eventually.
If they're a scanned villager, it'll take longer than normal.

If I hit her 3 times in a row, she’ll yell at me. I just got another prompt from a villager who wanted to move (I said no) and I talked to them every other day so it’s weird that the villagers I’ve talked to want to move but the one I ignore, wants to stay. Also, no she isn’t a scanned villager ^^

It's mostly random which villagers want to move out, but this method is one of the most consistent.
I'd suggest not hitting her with a net, as that prompt still counts as talking to her.

Ok.. I’ll keep ignoring her. It’s been about 4 TT months of me trying to move her out yet I’ve had 2 new villagers who moved out within 1 TT week.

If things are taking a while, maybe talk to them once, then continue ignoring them after that while talking to everyone else. I don't know of any other reason as to why don't want to move.

I've heard two different schools of thought on this and I can't say for sure which is correct. Maybe they both work, or maybe it's entirely random and some people just get lucky.

1. Introduce yourself to the villager and then ignore them completely. The thought is that if you aren't having any interaction with the villager, they will be more inclined to leave quickly. Hitting the villager with a net is negative interaction, but it's still interaction and can make the villager want to stay longer so they can work on building your friendship.

2. Become good friends with the villager. Some people say that unlike the other games in the series, in New Leaf the villagers you are closest with are more likely to be willing to move. So talk to them regularly, send them letters and gifts, complete their requests, etc.

Personally, I befriend all of my villagers and if there's one in particular that I want to move, I deny all other move requests until that one villager finally pings to move. Then, if they change their mind, I reset until they agree (usually only takes one reset). Since I don't time travel, if I allow another villager to move, that's 10 more days before I even have a chance at getting a moving ping from the villager I really want to move.

Honestly, I think the villager thinking of moving is probably random, but I think they're more likely to change their mind when they ping you if your friendship isn't high enough. That's just a guess, though. I've seen so many different opinions, I have no idea what is really fact regarding this.

I've definitely heard of people using the second method with success, but I've never had to use it myself as the first has always worked for me. Either or, villagers will always want to move given how moving works in this game, so it's just a matter of time in most cases.

Also, the bit about them changing their mind with low friendship is likely true, that's why I'd stress not answering their pings as I'd already know they'd like to move from other villagers.

Thank you both for the tips.. just talked to her and the rest of my villagers now. Going to TT and ignore her and talk to the villagers for one time travel week or so (hopefully it works). If not, I’ll try becoming good friends with her to see if it’ll work. Thanks again ^^

Good luck. I hope something works for you. I know it's frustrating waiting for that one villager to move.

I noticed that if I ignore the villager, the longer they stay. If you ignored them from the start though and never speak to them, it’s easier to do then, and eventually you’ll see them boxed . But if you speak with them initially and then stop speaking, I notice they don’t ping.

Don't ignore her. Ignoring villagers just makes them want to stay longer to get to know you better. The more you talk with Lucy the more likely she'll leave. Even just talking like 3 - 5 times a day and doing a small task is enough.

Every day make sure to talk with a different villager to see if they heard Lucy is moving, if the villager says she is planning to move out immediately save the game and after doing so go see Lucy to make her ping. If she changes her mind you can just reset the game and ignore her every day she has remaining until she eventually leaves and even if she doesn't change her mind it is still very ideal to ignore too.

I've tried completely ignoring them. This hasn't worked for me yet.

I've tried to ignore them but talk to them once. Very bad odds that they'll move out.

I've tried to become their friends, against my will, and they ask to move out.

Olaf was like this, I hated him, and I never talked to him. He never pinged me, so after a while I talked to him once in a week. Still did not ask to ping me. So I started taking to him once or twice a day. Olaf is now moving out of Treehut.

Thank you all for the tips! I’ve been ignoring her and talking to the rest of my villagers but no luck. I’ll try to become good friends with her on a new character and see if she moves out. Or should I use my mayor?

Probably should do it with your main since they will be the one Lucy sees most often.

You should use your main. If you use multiple characters, Lucy will ping for all of your characters, and there could be a chance that she could change her mind. Whenever I was trying to move Zell between towns, he agreed to move for my mayor, but pinged my alt, who hardly knew him. After that, he changed his mind for my alt as he wanted to be better friends with her. So if you have any alts, be sure to ignore Lucy if she's moving and pings the alt.
