Hello!

I'm hoping this isn't a totally obvious thing to discuss, but I'm sure you have all been in the situation where a villager you have been waiting to up stick and just get out allows you the delight of seeing the little '!!' light above their head, only to change their minds once you encourage them to leave!

What is this about? Should you have asked them to stay?

Basically the question here is:

When a villager announces they are leaving by saying "X", which of the two options will get them to leave, and which to stay?

For example, I just had Pierce tell me he just couldn't have a sit down with a cup of tea and a good sigh here in my town, but when I said he should 'Enjoy the new you!' he turned tail and decided he should stay because I might give up my exercise routine without him!

I also had Flo tell me she was interested in flinging some turf in another town, but when I told her to enjoy it she thought we weren't good enough friends and decided she wasn't going to leave til we were tighter! After resetting, I told her to stay but that STILL made her stay!

Which leads me onto my second question! Are there dud sayings where neither answer will make them leave?

If you tell them to stay, they will always stay. If you tell them to go, sometimes they will decide you mustn't know them well enough and they will stay. The majority of the time though, they will go if you tell them to go. You must just be unlucky

I believe that if a villager changes their mind when you say you want them to leave, you could just close the game without saving (assuming you haven't already saved after you changed their mind), and restart. Then just avoid that villager, and don't respond to them when they do the surprised emote.

Also, when you chat up your villagers, they'll occasionally tell you if someone is planning on leaving. As before, just avoid that villager in case you end up changing their mind.

If you close the game without saving they will ping again, just keep doing it until they say they?re gonna move for sure, that?s what I did to Paula, when she said we needed to be better friends I was like "oh hell no" and instantly reset the game lol, and then she decided to move on the third try or so.

It's happened to me a couple of times where they decide to stay after I told them they can go ahead & venture off in another town. If it's a villager I really dislike, I won't talk to them until moving day so it won't happen again. So far, it's been successful! [:

If you tell them to leave and they change their mind, you can always restart without saving and they will ask you again. If they still want to stay the 2nd time, they will definitely stay the 3rd time they ask.

What these guys have said ^^^ When they ping you, they'll tell you when they'll move out. If they choose to stay, reset, then avoid them like the plague until the moving out day comes.
