Hi guys, I was just looking for some advice. A few years ago I had a ACNL town which I got ridiculously attached to. It was my most-developed, memorable and longest running town and it really became a major part of my life. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons I deleted it and ever since Ive had trouble connecting with subsequent towns Ive tried to create. I know its ridiculous but I always compare it to that past town and I even dont find myself getting as attached to other villagers. I really want to move on and get back into ACNL, so I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if you have any advice? Thanks :)

I have had something like this. I didn't delete my town, but I was just really finished with it. I bought an extra copy, but I just didn't enjoy it as much. Wat really helped for me was to change some major aspect of the town. I gave my new mayor the same name (just my own name), kinda had the same theme etc, which really made it feel like a watered down version of my original town.
So I restarted my second town, again, and really tried to give it a different feel. Different name, different theme, and that really helped. I don't know if this is the same for you, but it helped me!

I experience this feeling a lot in multiple games, seeing as how I have impulse problems and like to restart games. Honestly, just reflect on how cool it was and how that'll motivate you to make your current town better instead of dwelling on the idea that your current town won't live up to its former.

It is hard to let go of anything in the beginning. Especially when you invested so much time into it. But deep down inside, it was the right thing to do. You wouldn't have done it otherwise! After any bad relationship, there will always be something to rebound into first before real progress can be made. It is the way of life. My town that I have now was made after numerous rebound attempts!! And now I am in love with my town and finally feel satisfied.

My advice, do not settle with something you are unhappy with. Reset. Unhappy? Start over again! :) Do it until you are exhausted and say "Wow I just want to enjoy the game and not worry about what my town looks like now" Because that is what you need.
It wasn't until I reached that point that I at last decided "I will never be happy with my town, but you know what, I just want to play the game. God I miss watching villagers fall into pitfalls!!"

And now I have completed the museum+encyclopedia in my town and I am so excited. I hope you find this happiness and succeed as well! Now my new goal is to complete all the badges <3

I hold this feeling on my second town. I loved my villagers and my town. I deleted it because the town was just running out of space to put everything. I really do miss it. Now I have a town that is just... too open. But somehow about the same layout as my first town, but mirrored.

Thank you for the replies everyone I’m going to keep trying our new towns until I settle - I’m just so excited to get back into acnl. Glad to know I’m not the only one to deal with this :)

i have deleted my town twice, once because i wanted to be the mayor, and another time to let my sister be the mayor. i miss them both dearly, but sometimes you just gotta let go of things. starting new and fresh in this game can be beneficial, especially if there were things in your town that you really disliked.

if you reset, or your town goes corrupt, either you can weep and quit or stay strong and keep going forward. it's your choice.

Make a new town and pick a different layout and villagers. Do something different or something you haven't done before in your previous town.
