Moving a house or building just slightly

Do you really have to pay twice if you really just wanted to move a house over a couple of squares? It sounds like you have to move it away and then back instead of just moving it slightly over... is that true? And you have to wait a day for each move?

all of that is right; if you have a building that you want to be a square over to the right, you'll have to move it entirely from the location if it overlaps or is right beside the building that's already placed. and, unfortunately, you'll have to wait for the next day in order to initiate another building move process. it's a tedious task :c

That sounds very tedious! I guess I won't be doing that... seems like such a waste. Maybe I can eventually terraform the area... I'm guessing that is costly, as well?

Nope. You just have to see your first KK concert and pay for the tools with Nook miles.

I think that moving buildings is worth it. The cost isn't too bad in return for being able to move things around. I'm grateful we have the ability to do so!

Terraforming will cost you nook miles to unlock all the different parts (more paths, river, cliff) but you won’t need to pay bells

I also agree that it is tedious but it may be worth it in the long run since you can make the bells back fairly easily (100k to move it away and to the correct spot)

i definitely find that it's worth it in the end; i know that sometimes 50,000 bells per move can really seem like a kick at the back of the knee, but it's easy to make that during your routine if you're collecting and selling the shells, bugs, etc, that you come across. and this way, you can place things exactly how you want them, and wont ever be worried about how something doesn't fit right how you want it.

i wish you luck in deciding what's best for your island c:

ive learned the pain of unfortunate placement early into the game on my first few islands and since then i've decided to just put all my buildings on the beach until i'm ready to put them in a more permanent spot. usually the south facing beaches can hold quite a few buildings in a row if you pack them in like sardines, but once you run out of spaces there the east & west beaches are a bit trickier to get buildings on bc they can be rly thin in places. usually, if i dont have any space on the side beaches i just put any building that won't fit along the south beach's grass area. 10/10 recommend this method.

I guess I'm not the only one who has run into this problem. I was wondering if I'm just not very good at this game and should just give up. I don't understand why some features were made certain ways. I'm glad we at least have the option to move things, but it would be a lot less frustrating to just be able to move it the one time. I get that it's a video game, but it seems some features are just there to annoy.

I definitely need to just spend time racking up the bells. So I should focus on shells, bugs, fish? Anything else? I was working on upgrading my house... I still have just the single room, but it's the largest one you can get. I might have to put that on the backburner, although I am running out of storage and really do need the extra room.

Don't give up! there are people who are willing to help you. but if you didn't know, New Leaf(the previous AC game) didn't allow you to move anything, so moving things in this game is new, and because of that, rough around the edges.

i highly recommend diving and just diving to get bells. both hemispheres benefit a lot from diving to make bells right now, bc the lowest selling price for any diving creature is 500 bells, and u frequently get creatures that sell for 1k+. ive found that in the northern hemisphere i get a lot more bells diving at night rather than during the day, but any time of day ull see a lot of profit. it's fast and easy to get a full inventory of things to sell, meanwhile with fishing and bug-catching it may take longer (unless u spam bait at a pier for fishing) and u frequently come across bugs & fish that don't sell for as much as diving creatures.

well, i think the most important thing is just taking things one step at a time. sometimes it's a lot harder to go about terraforming and rearranging when you don't have a solid plan in mind (for example, i'm doing piece by piece of redecorating, and it's taking me quite a bit of time, and i need to put in a lot of work to make everything smoothly go into each other. had i planned it out beforehand though, i'd be in a much smoother sail for redoing my island).

bugs, fish & diving creatures, and shells are all really good ways to actively get bells on a regular basis. selling your bugs to flick, or your fish to CJ, when they come to visit is also a really good way to make extra money (but sometimes holding onto those bugs and fish is another tedious process). all you need to dive is a bathing suit; you can purchase one from your nook cranny shop.

SadStringBean, I have only played City Folk, in the past, and you couldn't move anything either. So this is definitely an improvement. I wish I did a better job when placing the first time.

Rezberri, that's right! I did make a lot of money the night I spent diving for sea creatures! I will do a lot of that, today, and I bet I will have enough money for what I need to move. Thanks!

I really thought I had it all under control. I even found my map online and rearranged it to how I wanted it. But I still misplaced a couple of houses by just a little bit and they aren't terrible, but they could be a bit better.
