So I moved in my first campsite villager today (Zell) and unlocked the ability to purchase plots of land. I bought one and recruited Bob from a mystery island. After that, I went ahead and set down another plot of land, but the last two mystery islands I went to were empty. Do the villagers stop spawning at this point or was I just unlucky? I have the two plots reserved for Zell and Bob and one empty plot.

The same thing just happened to me so I guess it's one new villager per day, unless we're both very unlucky... I regret inviting the first decent villager over now, I wouldn't have minded one or two more trips to find someone I really liked... Haha. Too bad, better luck tomorrow 
It seems to be one per day but my question is - what if I don't invite the first villager that I encounter on the island?

I spawned at least 10 before I chose one, and after that they stopped spawning, so you can do it until you find someone you’re happy with, I think

And I heard that it spawns all personality types too. Can you confirm that?
It seems to be biased towards Snooty and Cranky if you don’t have those villagers yet, but I ended up recruiting Bob (Lazy), so it seems that they can have at least those ones as well.
