does anyone have their island mostly raised? I’m wondering if this is a good idea. I just started terraforming around my resident center where I plan to have it de-elevated with most of the surrounding area elevated.

does anyone else have a similar island plan? just curious to see how it works, especially with villager housing placements!

I'm currently working towards having most of my island raised because I don't like the look of mostly flat islands. It takes up a lot of space with all the elevations imo and its definitely a chore to get everything to look right but i think it definitely turns out very nicely!

i hate flat spaces too lol i hope yours turns out good!

I’m making my island based off of the Pacific Northwest where I live so it needs to be mountains with also a lot of water and I’m having trouble finding a good mix without it looking terrible lol

do you think it looks bad now? how much trouble did you have terraforming because i know building huge elevated blocks can be annoying :(

i am slowly terraforming more and more of my island to be raised lol. i just really appreciate it, visually. it feels interesting and complex! also the appearance of rivers on cliffs and the creativity of what you can do with multiple levels challenges me happily haha.

v much agree with @Arckaniel tho! i am consistently underestimating how much space i need to do anything. & you would think i would get better at it eventually, but ALAS no, lmfao

I've been raising it one section at a time. Now that I can't make any more ramps.. ugh. Kinda stuck. Unless Nintendo lets of have more (doubt it lol) I only have the back portion of my map mountainous.

I originally wanted something more mountainous but the incline limit killed those dreams ugh :( there are def a lot of videos/screenshots online of small areas with like. lots of elevation and whatnot, and I always wonder what the rest of their island looks like haha. Like if one area is using 4 inclines then you only have 4 left for the rest of your island...

idk why nintendo decided to limit the inclines tho, like what's the point? It just limits our creativity on creating a perfect island, now you kinda have to make do on what you have and settle for a different build just to save up inclines/bridges

i havent ran into this problem yet. im at 6 inclines and plan to add 2 more and demolish one.

i wonder the same too tbh but heres to hoping it works!

mountainous islands are vv pretty!!, but i can't imagine how tedious and time-consuming terraforming the hills was like
kudos to those with dedication to do that

Mine has a lot of varying levels. My problem though is the incline limit. It’s making me upset that I have to work around it and change some plans because I’ll run out of the inclines. I couldn’t care less about bridges. In all honesty all the bridges I now have are just for aesthetic purposes. I hope we could re allocate unused bridges to inclines instead. :(

The back and left third of my Island is mostly raised.

The town is on ground level, with the houses positioned with the curves of the mountain in mind.

Most of the 2nd level is a Nature/hiking area.

I have a Cemetery on one of my plateaus, a Forced Perspective viewing area on a second plateau, and the third one is still empty. I am still thinking about what to do with it.
