I recently bought Fantasy Life about a few days ago and I finished the story and mastered the Paladin life. So, I haven't even had a chance to put my hand near ACNL. Playing FL for over 30 hours has totally ruined my motivation for playing AC, how do I get back to playing?

I would suggest starting goals possibly? Maybe there's a certain way you want your town to look? Or a badge you have wanted for a while that you could start working towards? The options are endless lol. It is hard to get back into it sometimes after taking a break but I think once you start up your game you might find something to do. :) Even to just say hi to your villagers and helping them with a few small tasks could help you get back into the groove of things!

Fantasy Life is a fun game, by the way lol. I got it at release and I'm still currently playing it from time to time. I still need to get the DLC though sadly. I'm a bit behind on that. xD

I did the exact opposite! I had Fantasy Life first and couldn't stop playing it until I got ACNL.
I would suggest just getting back into the game slowly by talking to your villagers and doing small daily tasks as you normally would.

Don't force yourself to play! :( The point of playing a game is to have fun.

I feel you on this; I lost my AC groove to a certain Tomodachi Life... (game's addicting, yo!)

I found that simply starting the game up helped me get back into it, but IDK if that would work for everyone, haha. Like the others on this thread have said, setting goals really helps. What kept my playing for a long while was achieving a beautiful themed town. If that fails too, you could always do some research on various challenges and things, I'm sure there are some out there C:

Aha I'm the exact same at the moment. Got back into an adventure game and rarely touch my ds now. I do go on every day or so to ensure no one is moving away. I'm slowly prying myself back into playing by thinking of things I'd like to do in my town. I'm in no rush though and am sure I'll get back into the game soon.

I completely stopped playing for several months after losing interest. I think the worst thing you can do is force yourself to play - I was playing for ten minutes a day to make sure nobody moved, and hated every second of it. Once someone accidentally moved out and I had a reason to put the game down, I actually felt relieved that I didn't have to play when I didn't want to (even though I was devastated Yuka moved out).

If you're set on getting back into the game, I suggest setting goals that interest you - achieving badges, landscaping your town, decorating a house/room, getting a specific villager, etc. - whatever makes you want to sit down and work towards it. I'm currently working on getting all of the gold badges. :)

I once stopped playing ACNL for 10 months straight. Here's a tip: Use the Beautiful Town Ordinance. I used it, and when I came back after those 10 months, I had a very small amount of weeds and clovers to pull up. So when you start playing again, there won't be a huge mess to clean up. Other then that, don't force yourself to play something. You won't enjoy it. One thing that got me into Animal Crossing again was playing with a friend. I went to his town and we were talking with each other over Steam voice chat. We played for at least 2 hours or so and we had a good time.

That's about all I can recommend. Hopefully my response wasn't too lengthy. :p

Oh my gosh! I love Fantasy Life!! I ended up taking two months off while I played Fantasy Life too. When I got back to Animal Crossing, my motivation was collecting all the K.K. Songs and working on dream address badges. I find that finishing collections/badges gives you a goal to work on.

The best thing to do is wait until you feel like it. If your burnt out you need to take a break until you've refreshed. When I know I'm going to take a break I write down a reminder of the last day I played. Then I when I feel ready, I reset the 3ds clock and then play from there to insure I don't lose anything.

same! I got Tomodachi life but soon got bored of it and moved back to new leaf... then there was Nintendogs.... then back to new leaf XD yeah having a theme + dreamies helps keep the game flowing. I'm going for a forest theme :3 Also don't force yourself to play it, the point of games they are ment to be for fun!

If you took a break and don't want to lose your villagers, I'd recommend being careful if you didn't plan that ahead, so you won't lose them. I wrote a guide explaining how to avoid losing them if you've been away, you can find it here: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?209379-How-To-Not-Lose-Villagers-When-You-re-Away

Where actual playing is concerned, it's up to you. You can take a break if you don't feel motivated at all. I usually find that when I'm not that interested in the game but get bored and load it anyway, I end up remembering why I enjoy it. Maybe you still have things that you'd like to finish or change, so you could focus on that. You could play through some events if you'd have fun doing that or you can just roam around your town and do small things like errands for your villagers to get more used to the game again.

My motivation to play ACNL is that I want to be able to decorate my apartment, but I can't because I'm poor.

I always suggest a daily chore list, for me it helps me get back in the groove when I know I should play but don't want to. Also maybe re-vamping your town or trying to achieve all the medals. So you can be like "Alright I mastered the Paladin life, now I have to master BALLOON SHOOTING!" Or w/e badges. Haha. When I don't want to play I go on and when my dreamies come running at me pinging it makes me really happy to play.

1.) Try and earn all the gold badges! It will be a challenge but it will sure get you into playing ACNL!
2.) Try and landscape your town in a different way! It is spring so it means its a new leaf xD
3.) Achieve getting your catalog filled or your encyclopedia
4.) Strive for your dream town!
