i'm sure this was already asked but things have probably changed since it was last asked-
I want to get back into the game since the new update came out, but part of my problem is that i'm way too poor to work on my island ;v;
So what's the most effective way to earn bells faster? Or how do you prefer to earn bells?

I've been getting a lot of bells from diving. Every time I fill my inventory I get around 50,000 bells. You could also farm scorpions/tarantulas and set up orchards of all the fruits on your island. Or fish for the big rare fish, since they bring in several thousand each.

Definitely going with the previous posts here. Diving is great when you're building up a chunk of change for turnips. Once you get a stack or two of bells, drop them all on the turnip market and head online to sell. People are trustworthy here. Just make sure you don't forget to sell them. :) Honestly once you sell your initial batch of turnips and have enough to drop a few hundred thousands bells on the turnip market every week you're pretty much golden as far as bells are concerned.

Originally I had a large orchard of foreign fruit trees and made my initial chunk of change harvesting all the fruit. Had thirty(ish) trees. Obviously it's a bit slower so that might not be a good option. Shells on the beaches are also a good way to pocket a few thousand bells a day when you're just starting out. That and fishing! 🐟

I earn plenty of bells more or less passively, once you get into the routine. Hit your bell rock every day, dig up and sell all your fossils (after donating!), make sure to bury 10k in the glowing spot every day. If you do the bell rock right, plus the tree, you get nearly 50k every day plus whatever the fossils nab you.

Bell tickets are extremely tedious but also good in a pinch if you're rolling in nook miles. Or, somebody on here would probably buy NMT off you for IGB with an even better exchange rate.

I'm impatient and lazy. There's nothing convenient you can do to earn bells like bug farming in NL, so most of my bells in NH come from trading with others online lol.

If you can play online turnips are the best way to earn money fast. You can use this website https://turnip.exchange to search for islands with Dasiy Mae to buy turnips and then search for islands with a good price to sell turnips. I have done this and made around 3 million bells within 45 minutes.

If you don't play online, I make around 1 million bells every two weeks selling creatures that I've stockpile over the course of the two weeks to CJ and Flick. What I do is- during my usually daily play session, if I come across a pricey butterfly/bug (Alexandra bird wing, raja B, Madagascar sunset, purple emperor, beetles etc) I will KEEP it instead of selling it to Nook's and then sell it to Flick when he comes to visit. I do the same thing for CJ with sharks and other expensive fish. Even if you only catch a few of each a day, it really adds up fast and its a super amazing way to make money without even trying.

Other than that, you can try to farm tarantulas and scorpions on mystery islands, although in my opinion its not worth the time you spend irl to farm them. I would recommend instead to farm beetles on mystery islands when Flick is in town and just go back and forth catching and selling pockets full.

Outside of the game, you can trade tbt for in game bells on this website for a really great price. I would totally recommend this option over all the others if you are not looking to save up tbt for collectables and want to get lots of money fast.
For example, this shop (link) is selling 8 million bells for only 16 tbt.

Honestly people sleep on hot items too, especially if its diys. Maybe it because I have so much materials, but making a bunch of hot items can rack up.

The main ways I make Bells:

1. Using excess materials to create and sell high-value "Hot Items" at Nook's Cranny. I've easily made 500k Bells in a day with this method.
2. "Daily chores", as I call them. Basically the money rock, fossils, foreign fruit trees, etc. Money tree (10k-30k planted) is optional. It adds up.
3. Diving and fishing. It adds up if you do it for a while.
4. Turnips, when I feel like it. I decorated my basement to be a 'turnip cellar,' so when I feel like buying turnips, I have enough room for 3,000 Turnips. However, the entire basement floor can fit 6,000 turnips.

Now, this final one only applies if you have a huge amount of blue and gold roses that you don't mind picking the buds of, but making blue/gold rose crowns and door decorations, they sell for a very large sum of money. You can easily get 300k Bells every couple days with this method. This is the method I tend to use the most.

Also, I'd like to note that purple flowers can work to some degree, but won't be as much as blue or gold roses.

Blue and gold roses work great if you have many and the corresponding wreath/crown recipes.
I came here to say this. Someone on here had a post about making 550k every few days harvesting blue roses, making wreaths, then selling to Nook's Cranny.

Personally, I used turnips to get my savings to 20 million, then just supplement with diving whenever I feel like wasting time.

As someone who also recently returned to the game, I was also struggling with this, so I appreciate this thread being made. Online isn't really an option for me (so no turnips or trading), but all of these other methods are good ideas. I've been doing the dailies and I too noticed that a full bag of sea creatures gets me 40,000ish bells

1. daily glowing spot, dig up 1000 bells and you can re-bury it (or any other amount of money) and a tree will grow and yield 3x as much as was originally planted.
2. sell non-native fruit(or... native fruit works too but isn't worth as much)
3. sell literally anything else you don't need (fish, bugs, seashells, furniture and clothing you don't use)
4. bell vouchers, purchased from nookstop for 500 miles (can be traded for 3k bells).
5. try out the stalk market, though this can go horribly wrong depending on how much timmy and tommy care about you
6. ask for donations.... ig

hope this helps!!!

Also: clean out your storage! I just cleared out a ton of DIY furniture I keep re-making (oops), plus tons of really expensive spotlight items I bought from Nook's for catalog purposes and then just squirreled away. Made 200k!
Probably not anywhere near what I once spent on the spotlight items, but y'know.

Selling turnips is ideally the fastest way to earn Bells. However, if you prefer doing an activity, diving earns more than fishing and catching bugs.

My suggestions would be:
  1. Turnip trading. There are many people on this site and others which offer up their high prices (and who let you visit Daisy Mae) at all times of the week. Even after leaving a tip for the other person, profits can add up very quickly. This is how I made the vast majority of my money.
  2. Selling to Flick/CJ. I'd keep all of my catches worth over a certain threshold (say, 2,500 bells) and sell to them when they came. I literally used to keep room fulls of tarantulas back when tarantula islands were profitable. Selling diving creatures to the Nooklings can also be profitable, but I haven't done it too much myself so I can't compare it to Flick/CJ.
  3. Converting your bells. There are shops on this forum which allow you to trade TBT for bells. You can get millions in a single go. However, this is probably the most boring way to make bells, and it doesn't feel like much of a challenge since you didn't technically do that much for it... but it's an extremely quick way to earn bells!

Honestly by far the best way to earn bells now is to just trade some TBT for IGB. Multiple people offer really good rates at the moment, and you can literally just afk while people make multiple deliveries for likely more bells than you'll ever need.
