Most difficult or frustrating fish and bug to find and catch

not really a hard bug to catch once you find it,but it's god damn annoying when you can't locate it
and that bug,is the damn mole cricket.

Where is the lie

I once dug up like an eight of my town before giving up

"Mayor, could you catch me a mole cri-" "NO"

For bugs, none really. But for the fish, the Saddled Bichir. I swear I was looking for that fish for a long time!

Yeah lol that was actually the last fish I caught to complete my encyclopedia

Also, literally any dragonfly, especially if they're near/over the river or pond. I didn't get two of them last summer so I have to wait until I catch up (I'm in February atm lol) to complete the bug encyclopedia

Coelecanth for me. Bugs usually don't give me issues, but I haven't experienced sumer yet in acnl.

I've been playing this game since it came out and have yet to actually catch a petaltail dragonfly, I've never even seen it in my town! Not even when playing in the season it's supposed to be in! As for fish, I've yet to catch a koi in my current town

I'm surprised to see coelacanth mentioned as often as it is. I know that it can take a while to find because you have to wait for a rainy / snowy day, but I personally have not had much trouble finding them on those days. The smaller rare fish like the piranha, nibble fish, and saddled bachir can be really annoying to find because you usually have to catch a bunch of black bass, carp, and crucian carp to find them. Is it just me, or is the koi really, really rare? I think I've caught less than a handful of them even though I have done a lot of fishing.

I agree that trying to dig up a mole cricket can be really annoying, but at least they appear often enough that it is not that hard to find one if you are really trying to find one.

Ha! I didn't even read the post above me before I asked the koi question.

The Saddled Bichir took forever to find. But I would say the worst for me were the tarantula and scorpion. They don't appear very often and they don't seem to stay around as long as other bugs. And to make things worse, you only get 2,500 bells when you sell them.

Actually you get 8,000 bells when you sell them. You might be thinking about bees.

Same, I've never seen a petaltail dragonfly, even when I played literally every day last summer.

Actually, I catch a lot of nibble fish tbh

But the Saddled Bichir... yeaagh,,..

I thought Coelacanth only showed up while your town is raining or snowing?

Yeah I spent a half hour trying to get a coelacanth when it rained in my town today and then tried again later with nothing but sea basses. I heard the tarantulas and scorpions in the summer are nasty, but if they're like th bees then they shouldn't be too bad.

The hardest bug to find and get was the scorpion. Last summer I caught a lot of tarantula and finally got a scorpion for three mayors. Right now it's summer in my guest town and all I've seen is tarantula.

I've completed 11 player golden fishing rods and found the Gar was a pain to catch for my side players. Only one caught them all the time.
Found a old post that said when it's raining rare fish show up more. So I waited and all my player caught one in the rain. Someone also said to walk the full length of the river and than come back to the lake so something would spawn. That was a big help.
Gar are easiest to catch in June. After 9pm you don't have to deal with dorado. In July you have the araparimas spawning all the time. I've also caught them early in the morning before the dorado showed up.

With all the fish and bugs and I did save/continue or save/quit. More spawn. Lost a tarantula 5 minutes into the game so I quit and started it back up. 5 minutes in and I caught one.

The only fricking thing that I find hard to find is the char. That thing is unholy. I almost gave up on getting my badge because of... it. Otherwise,I think that the scarab beetle is pretty hard to get, considering that you need to catch it at a very awkward time. I only got one once because I was at a party and I was so hooked into animal crossing that I went back and forth to the island to sell beetles, when I found the bug. I almost confused it with a common bug. It was then when I realized that it was 3 a.m already Г? Г

The Walking Leaf. I remember in my old town, it was one of the last bugs I caught...

I have a love/hate relationship with the Horned Hercules -- so valuable and yet so very, very fickle (assuming they even decide to show up...)

Yeeeaaahhh!!!

Oddly enough, the last bug I need to catch is the snail. I haven't gotten around to planting bushes yet.

Wow, it's pretty cool to watch the tarantula and scorpion face off in the museum.

I actually caught a second tarantula tonight and that elusive gar; I must be really lucky :) I think that time traveling to June in the middle of the night (around 2:00 A.M.) really helped. I think tarantulas appear most often then because that is the time when there are the fewest other bugs to spawn. Likewise, I bet that the best time to find a scorpion would be in the middle of the night during September. I'd appreciate it if someone would test / has tested this and tell me if this theory is true.
