Most amount of play time you've seen?

Honestly, I feel like anyone with a playtime of 500hrs or more is probably just leaving the game running when the system is in sleep mode. I once did that with a game that I barely played at all. Left it on overnight, and the next time I looked at it, it was like "20 hours played". Nope. Lol.
That's not true at all. The play time just gets updated when you close the game. Sleep Mode doesn't count.

Back to the topic, I played 520 hours already. This game is like a drug haha.

In my group of friends I think the highest count is 335hrs. That's 200hrs more than I've put into the game! 😂

Right...it gets updated when you close the game.

So...if your game is left open, and the system powers down without manually closing the game and going back to the main menu, it continues to track that as time that the game is open. So, yeah...it 100% is true. That's how Switch tracks playtime...the time that the software is running, whether the Switch is powered down or not. You need to go to the home menu, press X on the icon, and select "close the software" to stop playtime from being logged.

Source = me leaving games open in the past, and having hours logged that I definitely didn't "play".

Or maybe it's only if you let the Switch power down on its own. I might not be 100% sure on the power button...but I know that if you're playing something, forget about it, let the screen go completely black, then return to it...the system counts that time. Even though the console is technically powered down.
Almost everything I've been reading online has indicated that the Switch does not log your playtime once you enter sleep mode by pressing the power button / even enter the home screen. The game has to actively be on the screen to count as "playtime". Granted I've been playing way too much to properly validate this.

As for myself, I'm sitting on 320 hours which is super inflated cause I keep the game open on another monitor while working from home and occasionally running around hoping a villager pings me lol. I've seen 500+ hours but he confirmed that he keeps the game running overnight

Then it's possible that it happens when you forget the system while it's on, and it powers itself down. I know it's happened to me before, though. Put the Switch down somewhere in the middle of playing...the screen goes black and the system technically powers down after a while. I'm pretty sure that's when it happens.

Just saw your edit / this. I agree I think when the switch just black outs on it's own it still records playtime~ Just when you actively leave the game screen is when it pauses

if that was true my play time would be in the 1000s

That's still not true. Otherwise I'd have 900 hours + since I pretty much never close the game or completely shut down the console.

Okay...so, to be clear on any previous claims I've made (which were made in error, not intentionally)...the system records gameplay when it powers down automatically. If you leave it on and the system goes to a black screen on its own, then it will record time that you have not actually played, despite technically being "off". The point remains the same...it IS possible for the play time to be falsified, which is probably true for at least some of the higher play times. Especially for people who might play late at night and then fall asleep with their Switch on.

260 hours, which I believed were a lot. I logged in into my unescape account and found out, I played that game for 169 DAYS!

I concur. I have 165 hours and I leave my game on sleep mode and don't exit Animal Crossing basically since launch. I have never encountered a Switch game's gameplay time being logged in sleep or power off mode.
