There's really no set release dates, if you got a little thing of paper from Gamestop, it's most likely a place holder date.

IMO, it's most likely gonna be released around November, as most Animal Crossing games have, but unfortunately, we'll just have to wait and see.

I think it will come out either this Christmas, or January. Maybe even March something... and that is very possible, because we don't even know the title of the game yet... or even a decent amount of information. And street lights and benches do not count. I'm talking about Wi-Fi, Multiplayer, Title, New Stores, etc...

I'd wait until January/February since the games like Kid Icirus and I think Super Mario that were meant to be released around December have been already announced.Luigi's Mansion 2,Paper Mario 3DS, and Animal Crossing 3DS didn't get a release date,if they were to be released on December also,then it would have been announced.
