Pokémon Mispronouncing Pokemon names

Kyogre- I would say it like koo-gray
Dragalge- I thought it was drag-ah-ledge and I laughed when I heard it as dra-gal-gee. Totally didn't see algae in the name.
Helioptile- I had no idea how to say this one but the anime makes it sound so funny.
Bidoof- I thought it was bih-doof and not bee-doof.
I'm sure there were more but I can't think of them now. Not a mispronunciations, but I like to call Braivary's pre-evolution baby-airy. lol

There are probably a lot more but I definitely used to pronounce Arceus as Ar-see-us instead of Ark-ee-us and Grotle as Grow-tle instead of Grottle which I found a bit weird. For some, like Rayquaza, I ignore what they say in the anime and just go with my own idea lol.

You mean the first one isn't correct? You'd think it was, considering it's similar to both 'grow' and 'grove', wouldn't you?

I think my biggest butchering would be Suicune, I pronounced it Su-sheen, (I still do tbh) no idea where I got that pronounciation from but to me it sounds better after calling it that for years before anyone called me up on it.

I also got called up for, Cofagrigus - Cof-agor-ee-gus and Sceptile as Skept-tile. There's been loads of others though (including the legendaries others have mentioned), where I never really spoke about Pokemon with anyone across Gen 3 and 4, didn't watch the anime and never played a game that spoke their names.

Also, my housemates from BW days all agree Reuniclus is pronounced Hippodiculous after I gave up trying to remember it's name and called it that, and it stuck ever since. xD

I recently heard that Bonsly which I always pronounced as Bons-lee is actually said more like Bons-lie weird.

Another one is the word Pok?mon itself many people pronounce it Poke-a-mon or Poke-e-mon due to the confusion with the accent on the ?, but the correct pronunciation is Poke-eh-mon. Interesting to say the least.

I recently heard that Bonsly which I always pronounced as Bons-lee is actually said more like Bons-lie weird.

It's because Bonsly is Bonsai, but it's also fake (hence why it's a wood type, not a grass type) so it's a 'lie. Portmanteau of Bonsai and Lie.
Kinda similar to Sudowoodo, Pseudo and Wood. PseudoWoodo

Has anyone ever mispronounced a Pokemon's name, only to find later that the official pronunciation is something completely different?

For me, it was Suicune (I called it SOO-ih-soon, as in "suicide"), and Illumise (ILL-loom-eyes).

Nope never, because if i pronounce the names like it was a word from my native language, i pronounce it like it should! Easy peasy!

wha?? so i'm pronouncing my all time favorite pokemon's name wrong?! so its gar-de-vor- instead of -gar-de-vwah?.... and also, i used to pronounce kyogre as -kai-yo-grey instead of -kai-yo-ger.

I read arceus wrong all the time and thought it was pronpunced ar-cue-iss. I still say it to this day. I feel like me and my brother are the only ones saying it that way.

The said thing is, thanks to 4Kids mispronunciation will never go away. I can't believe The Pok?mon Company and Nintendo let them get away with mispronunciations for so long.

The one that really drives me crazy is Vivillon. Why did you change the spelling if it is pronounced the same way!?

The only time it was pronounced different was in Movie 8. It was also pronounced correctly in the show bcause PUSA had taken over by that point.
